OTR North Somerset have teamed up with the Outdoor College to create a nature wellbeing group for young people 16-25 living in North Somerset.
People of all ages say that they get a great deal out of being outdoors. Spending time in beautiful, tranquil places is in itself very calming and stress-reducing. Alongside this, trying new things, gaining new skills and learning ways to relax in the outdoors can be hugely uplifting and provide an invaluable opportunity to improve our confidence, self esteem and resilience.

They've teamed up with the Outdoor College to create a nature wellbeing group for young people aged 16-25 in North Somerset.

Six-Session Nature Well Course:
Held in a relaxed and supportive environment, come and immerse yourself in the beautiful surroundings of Brown Rock woodland, with 20 acres of mature woodland, grassland and a market garden. Through fun and practical workshops, we will be exploring our connection to nature, and learn ways to actively engage with nature to support our wellbeing. We’ll also explore how nature can boost our mental health by helping us to connect with others, and how we can give back to the natural world and feel hopeful for its future.

The sessions will involve a mixture of different activities, games, time for reflecting and tuning into nature, and practical skills such as woodwork, nature crafts and cooking. If you have particular outdoor activities that you’re keen to try out, then we’d love to hear from you!

The season of the course means that, for some of the sessions, the sun will set before the end of the workshop. Please wear warm outdoor clothing and suitable footwear. We will be based in the cobhouse at Brown Rock Woodland, which is an enclosed indoor space with heating and lights. For all activities taking place outside, we will stay as a group and appropriate torches and path lights will be provided.

OTR can support you with transport costs for getting to and from the group. Please just let them know.

Taster day: Come along to Brown Rock on Saturday 4th Feb 2023 to see the site, meet the facilitators and get a sense of what the group will be like! A more detailed plan for the taster day will be released nearer the time
