The SF Bay Area Has Become The Undisputed Leader In AI Tech And Funding Dollars!!

Last year, more than 50% of all global venture funding for AI-related startups went to companies headquartered in the Bay Area, Crunchbase data shows, as a cluster of talent congregates in the region.

Beginning in Q1 2023, when OpenAI’s ChatGPT reached 100 million users within months of launching, the amount raised by Bay Area startups in AI started trending up. That accelerated with OpenAI raising $10 billion from Microsoft — marking the largest single funding deal ever for an AI foundation model company. In that quarter, more than 75% of AI funding went to San Francisco Bay Area startups.

LayerX Security raises $26 million for its browser security platform

The Israeli startup’s Enterprise Browser Extension integrates with any browser, helping enterprises to secure their devices, identities, data, and SaaS apps from web-borne threats and browsing risks. This round brings the company’s total investment to $34 million. After hitting a five-year April low with $377 million raised last year, Israeli startups crossed $1 billion in funding last month, which hasn't happened in a single month since August 2022. The movers and shakers where Cyera with $300m, Island with $175m, Guesty with $130m & Hailo with $120m.

According to joint investigations by German broadcaster ZDF and news magazine DER SPIEGEL, the hackers managed to infiltrate Volkswagen’s computer systems and siphon gigabytes of sensitive data related to the company’s electric mobility efforts and other core operations.

Volkswagen managed to recover files the hackers had sent to their servers and then deleted them. In total, the hackers are said to have stolen around 19,000 documents.
The stolen data includes critical information on Volkswagen’s proprietary EV technologies and production strategies.
This theft directly threatens Volkswagen’s competitive edge in the rapidly growing market and raises alarms about the potential misuse of this information.
