Check out our latest blog post ‘How hiring based on skills is becoming more popular’. There is a small, but big change happening in the way businesses hire people. More and more companies are moving away from traditional hiring methods that put a lot of weight on degrees, job titles and years of experience.

Technical Project Manager, Essex, to £45k, V04287. Are you a hands-on Technical Project Manager with a passion for immersive builds, theatrical thinking and bringing bold creative ideas to life? This experiential design, production and installation company delivers standout brand experiences for major global brands and leading marketing agencies. From exhibition stands and product launches to PR stunts, bespoke sampling units and giant props, they take a theatrical, innovative approach to everything they do. They are currently looking to fill a new role for a Technical Project Manager to lead the successful realisation, delivery and installation of all company projects. They are looking for someone who combines technical knowledge with leadership, organisational and project management skills.

In this role you will be ensuring every project is delivered on time, on budget and to the highest quality standards. You will oversee both the budget and the build, working closely with clients, the production team, workshop staff and installers to manage all technical aspects of each project - from concept through to post-event evaluation. Flexibility is key. The role is based on set weekly hours rather than fixed daily times, reflecting the dynamic nature of the experiential industry, where project demands may require occasional out-of-hours commitment.

Key Responsibilities include to: Run and oversee project briefings and production meetings; Interpret and read technical design drawings to ensure builds align with briefs; Manage project budgets, ensuring cost monitors are completed accurately and on time; Plan and input detailed information into project timelines; Advise on production queries, materials innovation, costings and health & safety; Attend and lead on-site installations as required; Host client visits and build long-term client relationships; Maintain up-to-date project administration.

With the ability to confidently read and interpret technical design drawings you’ll have experience in the build sector (ideally immersive, theatre, set or prop design). Strong organisation and time management skills will be needed as well as excellent communication skills with clients, suppliers and internal teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software will also be a must and you’ll possess a curious, inquisitive mindset with a solution-led approach to any issues that may arise.

Salary £35,000 to £45,000 (based upon experience) plus Pension, BUPA medical cover and EAP (Employee Assistance Programme). Please call Pippa Baker on 01920 486125 for further details or simply forward your CV / Portfolio to [email protected]. You can also apply via our website www.careersindesign.com/design-jobs/1553

Check out our latest blog post “Keeping Track of Your Job Applications”. Job application tracking plays a significant role in today's competitive job market. Job searching becomes a complex maze when candidates face the challenge of duplicate submissions to the same employer. You may well be working with more than one recruiter at any one time which increases the risk of being submitted for the same position several times. Modern job application tracking systems are a great way to get solutions to this common problem.

These systems can help you track your submission dates, agencies, recruiters and job IDs effectively. The hiring landscape has evolved and 64.8% of employers now use skills-based hiring practices for entry-level roles. This shift makes staying organised throughout the application process more important than ever.
