Good afternoon

Following on from the children's interest in Dinosaurs, the children have been exploring cause and effect through making a volcano that erupts.

The children have been using the word 'reaction' when adding the vinegar and bicarbonate of soda together.

We used words to describe the reaction we caused such as 'fizzing', 'bubbling' and 'explode'.

We had lots of fun watching our volcano erupt. 🌋

*Forest Friday Alert*

This morning Pippa, Sami and a group of children from Lower Pre School have been learning about plant life cycles. We worked together using our gross motor skills to transport our compost from a large tray into smaller pots, before discussing what a bulb was and how it would grow. The children took turns sharing the trowels, helping each other fill their pots as well as using their fine motor skills to plant their bulbs.
The children went on to use their visual skills, as we went on an adventure to search for other signs of spring.

Over the coming weeks we will be taking care of our newly potted plants and watching out for signs of new life.

This activity was ideal for promoting, team work, conversations using new vocabulary and most importantly establishing a love for the outdoors.

Outdoor play is a fantastic way for children to connect with the world around them. It Allows us as practitioners to engage children without the use of technology and the everyday constraints of an indoor environment.
