Meet Jo! 👋🏻
Jo is our bubbly Finance Manager here at First Base Employment!
We sat down with Jo and asked her a few questions...
❔ How long have you been working in finance?
I’ve been working in finance and payroll roles for around 14 years, all at managerial level. During that time, I also spent 3 years running my own business, which gave me a really well-rounded perspective on finance from both an operational and business-owner point of view.
❔ What do you enjoy most about your role?
I enjoy the structure and consistency that comes with finance and payroll, but also the responsibility that sits behind it. Knowing the numbers are accurate and that people are paid correctly and on time is really important, and I take a lot of pride in that.
❔ What’s your top tip for succeeding in finance?
Attention to detail is everything, but so is communication. Being able to clearly explain financial information to non-finance colleagues is just as important as getting the numbers right.
❔ What’s the one thing on your desk you couldn’t be without?
My desk riser, I like to switch between sitting and standing to keep moving throughout the day. It definitely helps with focus and energy levels (alongside a good coffee!).
❔ What are you focusing on most in your role right now?
Right now, I’m focused on improving processes and efficiencies within finance and payroll, making sure everything is as accurate and streamlined as possible while supporting the wider business as it grows.
