Monday motivation thanks to Pablo Picasso 🎨🖌️💪

Apparently Pablo Picasso was enjoying a meal at a restaurant when a man interrupted him, handed him a napkin and asked him to sketch something for him. He'd pay whatever Picasso wanted. He could name his price.

Picasso pulled a charcoal pencil from his pocket and sketched a goat, using a few strokes. A goat drawing that was unmistakably a Picasso. He showed the man and said it would be $100,000, to which the man remarked that it only took Picasso 30 seconds to draw!

Picasso crumpled up the napkin, put it in his pocket, turned to the man and said "you're wrong. It's taken me 40 years to do that".

Moral of the story: know your worth 💪 If someone is paying you for a job, they are paying for the years, not the minutes.

(We saw this story and it resonated a lot with us, but we also thought it resonated a lot with the marketing industry. Especially our clients and candidates agency side and wanted to share ❤️)

FREELANCE FRIDAY INSIGHT⚡⚡

We've had a few calls with freelancers recently who have been debating switching from sole trader to limited company and asking our thoughts 🤔

We've outlined some pros and cons below but would love for our freelancer community to share their thoughts with each other in the comments below. Sharing is caring after all ❤️

Limited Company:

👍Limited liability rather than personal liability.
👍Can be more tax efficient - you can often benefit from more tax-efficient structures, such as income splitting and tax planning strategies.
👍Credibility and perception - can be perceived to be more established and professional.
👎More administrative burden - such as filing annual accounts, maintaining company records, complying with statutory obligations.
👎IR35 compliance - limited company freelancers face stricter scrutiny regarding their employment status and tax obligations.

Where did Q1 go? 😳😲
