We have a fantastic opportunity for someone with a passion for manufacturing excellence and team leadership to step into a Production Team Leader position within a well-established manufacturing business.

This role would suit someone with experience in a fast-paced production or engineering environment who enjoys leading from the front and inspiring their team to deliver high performance.

Monday - Friday 2:15pm - 10:15pm

MUST HAVE MIN 1 YEAR TEAM LEADER EXPERIENCE!

💸Salary - £43,750 pa
⌚Full Time - Permanent

A little bit about the role:
• Coach and develop team members to become multi-skilled and adaptable.
• Maintain housekeeping standards using the 5S methodology.
• Perform quality checks and ensure compliance with operational standards.
• Monitor time and attendance, managing overtime and resource budgets effectively.
• Support investigations and HR processes in line with company policy.
• Coordinate and oversee daily production activities, ensuring safety and efficiency.
• Promote a clean, safe working environment in line with internal safety programmes.
• Allocate labour and manage resources to meet production targets and deadlines.
• Monitor KPIs, report variances, and drive improvement across the production team.

Some of the most important work in a business happens behind the scenes.

Some people are simply very good at being interviewed.

The eye contact, the well-told story, the answer that arrives polished and on cue. It's a real skill. It just happens to be a different skill from the one you're actually hiring for.

The danger is how good polish feels in the room. A confident, charming candidate puts you at ease, and without noticing you start filling in the gaps in their favour.

Meanwhile the quieter person who'd have been brilliant, but who doesn't perform under that particular spotlight, gets marked down for nerves.

We're not saying distrust anyone who interviews well. Plenty of brilliant people are also brilliant in the room. The point is to make sure you're assessing the actual work rather than someone's performance of talking about it.

Ask for specifics, dig into the how rather than just the what, and where you can, get them doing something close to the real job.

Seeing past the polish is what a good recruiter does for you, and it's something we take seriously at Appointments Personnel.

The thing about a permanent hire is the pressure it loads onto a single decision.

You meet someone two or three times, you get a feeling, and then you're betting a salary, a notice period, and a good chunk of disruption on a hunch formed over a couple of hours.

Temp-to-perm takes a lot of that pressure off. You bring someone in, they start doing the actual job, and you get to see the things an interview never shows you. How they handle a bad day, whether they get on with the team, whether they turn out to be as good in the work as they were in the room.

And it cuts both ways, which people forget. The candidate gets to try you on too. They find out whether the job is what you said it was, whether they like the place, whether it's somewhere they want to stay. By the time perm comes up, you're both deciding with your eyes open rather than crossing your fingers.

It isn't the right route for every role. But when you're not quite sure, or the budget's uncertain, or the role is still taking shape, it buys you the one thing permanent hiring never does: time to think properly.
