Morning, just wanted to let you know about about a new PA VACANCY here are the details...

Personal Assistant required to care for a elderly lady living in the Eston area who has dementia. The tasks of the post include providing personal care i.e. showering and dressing, escorting and accompanying the lady to access the community to do shopping and have lunch out. Also, a sitting service on an evening is required. A car driver is essential as is previous experience of supporting people who have dementia.

16 hrs per week on a rota basis but it is likely to include 3 mornings, 3 afternoons and one evening per week. A degree of flexibility will be required in this post.

£8 per hour

Tuesday 10th April: Sport Works will be delivering a session at Daisy Chain as part of their Family Activity Day. Open to all families in the Tees Valley who have a child with Autism. Please contact Daisy Chain for more information and to book on 01642 531248.

Thursday 12th April: Sport Works Holiday Club REDCAR AND CLEVELAND 9.30am – 3.30pm at Eston Leisure Centre. The cost is £3 per child, per day. Please ensure they have a packed lunch and plenty to drink! Get yourselves down for a whole variety of activities, games and sports to suit all ages and abilities. Remember, parents don't need to stay, our team are all CRB checked and fully qualified. Please note children must be aged between 7 – 17 to access this service.

MAKATON FOR SCHOOLS WORKSHOP
This workshop provides an opportunity to learn signs specific to the school/early years’ environment. It is not essential that participants have attended a Makaton foundation workshop, but you should have a good knowledge of the core vocabulary stages 1-4.
Topics that will be covered in this session include :
Colour
Weather
Days of the week
Curriculum subjects/resources
Basic literacy and numeracy concepts
And many more!
There will also be an opportunity to learn signs to a choice of songs/nursery rhymes.
A paper copy of all signs learned during this session will be provided for participants to take away.

Hi Folks just to let you know I have a Volunteer Worker who is looking for some Care experience.

This lady is available for care work in the Redcar, Guisborough and Skelton areas. She holds some PA training, advocacy and has an A Level in Art and Design. The lady would be available to work with most types of client group but would particularly like to work with teenagers with disabilities. She would potentially work twice a week for up to three hours per session. This lady has been CRB checked and would be willing to be CRB checked again for this role.

PA Training

At A4e we deliver the Common Induction Standards Training as a 2 day interactive workshop attended by Personal Assistants, Carers, individuals looking to work in social care and recipients of Personal Budgets / Direct Payments.
The 2 day workshop covers all aspects of the 8 standards and a certificate of attendance along with the Skills for Care training log is issued upon completion of the course.
The course provides an ideal opportunity for individuals working as Personal Assistants and/or Carers to meet with others in similar situations and to forge support networks.
Our dedicated Personal Assistant Support and Training Adviser – PASTA is on hand throughout the 2 days to offer support and advice as well as guidance on how to access further training opportunities.

Price is £75 per person.

Hello, I recently discovered a local support group called "Breathe Easy" in Redcar and East Cleveland. It's a group for people affected by lung conditions including their friends, family and carers. They have monthly meetings at Coatham Bowl.
