One thing I love about my role is speaking to people from completely different stages of life.

Some want more flexibility around family.
Some want a fresh challenge.
Some are returning to work after time away.
Some simply want something that feels more fulfilling.

There’s never one “type” of person looking for change.

And that’s why I love the conversations that come with this role.

📩 If you’ve ever wondered whether homeworking in travel could be right for you, reach out for a friendly, confidential, no obligation chat.

A Day in the Life of a Homeworking Independent Travel Agent (and Busy Mum of 3!)

5:30am – 6:30am | Early start, quiet focus time

My day starts early, I’m very much an early to bed, early to rise kind of person.

Before the house wakes up, I grab a quiet moment with my emails. I check for anything urgent, anything that needs actioning straight away and get a feel for what my day is going to look like.

It’s one of the few completely quiet parts of my day and I’ve learned to really value it.

7:00am – 9:00am | Chaos begins… school runs & real life kicks in
It’s the usual morning madness - breakfast, school bags, nursery runs and getting everyone out the door on time (well… most of the time!)

This is real life and one of the reasons homeworking works so well for me, I can step away when I need to, without asking permission or watching the clock.

9:00am – 10:30am | Coffee, catch-up & industry updates

Once I’m back home, it’s finally time for a coffee and a bit of peace.

I’ll scroll, catch up on travel industry news and check out the latest offers. Our marketing team sends through some amazing “deals of the day,” which I’ll often schedule to go out later, usually when people are home and scrolling in the evening.

This flexibility is key, you’re not tied to “9–5 posting times,” you work around when your clients are actually engaging.

10:30am – 1:00pm | Enquiries, quotes & training

This is usually my busiest work block.

Enquiries are coming in, some last minute, some for future plans. I love those initial conversations, finding out whether someone is just looking for ideas or ready to get something booked.

Quotes go out and sometimes I’ll jump on supplier training calls. We’re so lucky to have regular sessions organised by our product team, there’s always something new to learn and direct access to suppliers is invaluable.

I’m also really excited to already have my place secured for conference this year. It’s a brilliant opportunity to catch up with the wider team, hear updates first hand and feel part of something bigger while still working independently. I catch up with some of the team to find out plans around this event and have a chin-wag.

1:00pm – 1:30pm | Quick break (because you have to!)

By this time, I usually realise I haven’t stopped… so it’s time for a quick reset.
Washing out, a bite to eat and a little walk to the shop. Fresh air is a must when the day disappears so quickly working from home.

1:30pm – 3:30pm | The best bit… bookings coming in

Back to work and this is where it gets exciting.

Quotes come back as bookings.

I’ll usually give my customers a quick call to go through everything, make sure they’re happy, answer any questions
and then send over payment links.

And just like that… another holiday is booked, and another countdown begins.

I also always try to go the extra mile, whether that’s printing tickets and hand delivering them where possible, or popping them in the post with a little “happy holiday” note.

Online check-in, I’ve got those covered too. I’ll happily do it for my clients to take away the stress and make sure they’ve got everything ready, boarding passes, documents, the lot.

3:30pm – 7:00pm | Family time

School pickup comes around quickly and I’ll often take a few hours out to focus on family time - tea, homework and bedtime routines.

This is one of the biggest benefits of homeworking: being present when it matters most.

7:30pm – 9:00pm | Optional evening catch up (flexibility in action)

Sometimes I’ll dip back into work in the evening if needed, the flexibility is one of the biggest benefits of this career.

Whether that’s in my office or sat in the lounge with my laptop while Corrie’s on, it just fits around life, not the other way around.

Why I love Homeworking

For me, homeworking as a travel agent isn’t just about flexibility, it’s about building a career around your life.

You can be there for your family, grow a business, support clients properly and still feel part of a wider team with training, events, and real support behind you.

It genuinely makes work fit life, not the other way around.

Why I chose Homeworking by Inspire

One of the biggest decisions when I moved into homeworking was choosing the right company and for me, that’s why I chose Inspire.

From the very beginning, it didn’t feel like just joining a company, it felt like joining a family. There’s a real sense of support, encouragement and people genuinely wanting to see you do well.

You’re never just left to figure things out on your own. There’s always someone at the end of the phone, a message away, or ready to help when you need it. Whether it’s advice, reassurance, or just a quick chat, you always feel like someone has your back.

Even though we work independently, you never feel alone in it. There’s a real community behind you, cheering you on, sharing wins and helping you through the quieter or tougher days too.
That balance of independence with real support is what makes Inspire feel different for me. It’s not just a place to work, it genuinely feels like somewhere you belong.

Thinking about becoming a homeworker… but keep putting it off?

This is your sign.

Our next induction days are just around the corner and once they’re full, they’re full.

If you’ve been watching, wondering, or waiting for “the right time”… this is it.

Because this isn’t just about starting a business, it’s about being part of something built on:

✨ Integrity – doing things the right way
✨ Nurture – growing with guidance, not pressure
✨ Support – never feeling like you’re on your own
✨ Passion – loving what you do every day
✨ Innovation – thinking differently, standing out
✨ Results – building something that actually works
✨ Expertise – learning from people who’ve been there

Don’t sit on the sidelines while others take the leap.
