Diabetic Retinopathy Screening at OHC

This screening checks for diabetic retinopathy only. See your regular eye care specialist for any other vision-related testing and care.
Diabetic retinopathy occurs when there are increased levels of sugar in the blood, which can cause the blood vessels in the eye to swell and leak fluid and blood into the retina. It can also impact the growth of new blood vessels. Untreated diabetic retinopathy can cause blurry vision, swelling, and, in severe cases, blindness.
This service is provided in collaboration with the Indigenous Diabetes Health Circle [IDHC] and Vision Loss Rehabilitation [VLR] Canada.

The Oneida Youth Stewardship Program is looking forward to gathering with our partners from the University of Western Ontario (UWO) for a special day of connection, learning, and community.

We invite all youth ages 15–30 to join us at the OCC - Bears Den as we learn about the beautiful work being done through the White Corn Resurgence Project. This is a space to come together, share time on the land, participate in stewardship discussions, and connect with one another.

About the White Corn Resurgence Project:
• Learn about the cultural significance, history, and teachings of traditional White Corn.
• Explore indigenous food sovereignty and our relationship with the land and agriculture.
• Discover hands-on environmental stewardship and future summer opportunities for youth.
