How confident are you in your contractor compliance processes?

Our survey found that confidence among businesses is high, with 57% of respondents saying they are very confident in the compliance of their contractor supply chain.

But there was an interesting contrast: 60% have made no changes to their approach since April.

With IR35 still a major concern and Joint & Several Liability bringing greater focus to supplier due diligence and contractor supply chains, confidence alone may not tell the whole story.

In our article, we look at what businesses told us about:

🔹 IR35 and JSL concerns
🔹 Contractor supply chain confidence
🔹 Supplier and umbrella company due diligence
🔹 What good contractor compliance looks like in practice

The question isn't simply, "Are we compliant?"

It's also, "Can we demonstrate that our processes remain appropriate for the way we engage contractors today?"

🔐 AI is adding a whole new dimension to cyber security.

As AI becomes more embedded in business operations, it's changing not only how organisations work, but also how they need to think about security.

From increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks and new vulnerabilities to the growing importance of protecting sensitive data and business systems, AI is creating new challenges for organisations. But it's also opening up opportunities to strengthen cyber defence, improve detection and respond more effectively to security incidents.

For our next Hampshire AI event on Tuesday 17 November, we're turning our attention to Cyber Security in the Age of AI, exploring both sides of this evolving landscape and what businesses need to consider as they adopt AI.

We'll be sharing the full speaker details soon. Register now to secure your place: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/hampshire-ai-cyber-security-in-the-age-of-ai-tickets-2003209971951?aff=LinkedIn

Have you ever looked at your CV and wondered how multiple role changes might be perceived?

Moving between jobs more frequently was once seen as a concern, but career paths are no longer as linear as they once were. As priorities shift and professionals seek better alignment, learning opportunities and meaningful work, shorter stints are often understood when the reasoning is clear and the progression makes sense.

In our blog, we explore how employers view career moves today, how to clearly explain changes in interviews, and how varied experience can help build a stronger, more well rounded skill set.

AI, talent and risk were at the heart of our recent Technology Leadership Breakfast with NatWest.

Following Future Ready: Tech, Talent & AI, we've brought together some of the ideas and discussions that came out of the event.

Drawing on perspectives from Neil Bellamy, Head of Technology, Media & Telecoms at NatWest Group, Ian Taylor, Director at Spectrum IT Recruitment, and Dorothy Agnew, Legal Director at Broadfield Law, alongside questions from the room, the article explores:
🔹 The difference between adopting AI and using it in a way that creates genuine business value
🔹 Why judgement and experience could become even more important as AI changes technology roles
🔹 The challenge of developing the next generation of technology talent
🔹 Where responsibility sits when businesses introduce AI into their operations

Our partnership with NatWest brought together different perspectives from across business, technology and law, with plenty for technology leaders to consider.

Starting a new tech role? The first few weeks can make a big difference.

There's a lot to take in. New systems, new colleagues, different ways of working and, often, the pressure to prove yourself quickly.

But settling in successfully isn't about knowing everything from day one.

Our latest blog looks at some of the practical things you can do during those important early weeks, including:

✅ Focusing on learning before trying to make an impact
✅ Building relationships and asking questions
✅ Getting clear on what success looks like
✅ Avoiding some common new-starter mistakes
✅ Speaking up early if something doesn't feel right

We also look at the role employers and recruiters can play in making sure new starters feel supported beyond their first day.

Last chance to join us for the next Women in Tech Hampshire event!

We're excited to welcome Anna Selway, Kat Holmes and Dr Kieran Ingram for a brilliant panel discussion, hosted by our very own Lauren James and Amy Lee.

They'll be exploring some big questions around working in data today. Where does data sit within the wider world of tech? How is AI changing the field? What skills will matter in the years ahead, and where are the biggest opportunities?

Alongside the panel, there'll be plenty of time to ask questions, make new connections and catch up with others from across the local tech community.

We're really looking forward to welcoming everyone back!
