From a long-empty hotel to a new community of 70 homes 🏡

After months of transformation, the first tenants have moved into the former Bellgrove Hotel and the development beside it.

Originally designed in 1935 to provide accommodation for workers in Glasgow's East End, this B-listed building has seen a lot of change over the decades.

From the building as it was, through the work to transform it, to the finished homes, this has been a project about giving an existing piece of Glasgow's history a new purpose.

No longer empty, the Bellgrove Hotel is now a place to call home.

Since the Wheatley Foundation’s Imagination Library project began in 2016, 2063 children in Scotland have received 51,600 books 📚

For 475 children currently in our communities, that means a new story arriving through the letterbox every month until they turn five.

It also means the chance to develop a love of reading, explore their imaginations and share special reading moments with their families.

Today marks the first , a day inspired by Dolly Parton’s generosity and her lifelong commitment to putting books into the hands of children.

The Foundation are proud to be helping bring the joy of books to more children across our communities 💛

A new chapter is about to begin for the Bellgrove Hotel.

Before tenants move into their new homes, we welcomed Cllr Ruairi Kelly, Convener for Housing, Development, Built Heritage and Land Use at Glasgow City Council, to see the completed transformation of this iconic Glasgow landmark.

The £20.3 million project has transformed the B-listed building into 14 modern, energy-efficient homes, completing a major regeneration programme in Glasgow's east end.
