From 1st October, employers become liable for harassment of staff by third parties, customers, clients or contractors, unless they can show they took all reasonable stops to prevent it.
That's a higher bar than the current 'reasonable steps' standard, and a single incident is enough to trigger liability.
If your staff face the public, in retail, hospitality, healthcare or customer service, this is worth reviewing now, not in October.
Agency staff are covered too, which means your policies need to extend beyond your permanent team.
Got questions about what it means for your business? Let's talk.
