Saturday the 25th marks International Day of Ending Violence against Women and Girls.

An estimated 1.6 million women aged 16 to 74 suffered domestic abuse in England and Wales in the last year, and around 5.1 million women aged 18 to 74 were victims of some form of
abuse as a child. Tragically, in the year ending March 2020, 81 women were killed in a domestic homicide. Something has to change.

The statistics are horrifying women and girls deserve to feel safe and respected which is hard to do with an estimated 1 in 3 women over the age of 16 in Great Britain being subjected
to at least one form of harassment in the last year.

If you or someone you know is in a similar situation please reach out for help. You are not alone.

We are activists, survivors, researchers, frontline support services and NGOs working to end violence against women and girls in all its forms.

With Remembrance Day upon us we can take a minute or two to remember the sacrifice and service of all of those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.

Armistice Day on 11th November was when the fighting was suspended on the Western Front in 1918,so Germany and the Allies could reach a peace agreement, and the guns fell silent at 11am.
Up to 13 million people died in that conflict, which became known as the “war to end all wars”.
Sadly it has not ended all wars and we also during this time remember those currently fighting to protect other.

Lest we forget.

Remembrance Sunday is a national opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life.

Today Friday 1st September marks the 7th Annual Starts At Home Day!

A time to reflect and celebrate how essential good quality social housing is for our communities. We need to recognise housing associations and staff working to achieve this. We must urge the government to make improvements and ensure everyone has access to safe and affordable housing!
