Action for Brain Injury (ABI) Week takes place every May and highlights different aspects of brain injury and its impact. To mark this important awareness week, we’re reflecting on a truly special journey we are privileged to be part of.
Following a stroke and five years in hospital, our client’s return home once felt out of reach. Through a carefully coordinated care package, we supported her transition back home, helping to make what once felt impossible, possible again.
Our team received tailored brain injury training specific to her presentation, enabling them to understand how her condition affects memory, decision-making, and daily living. Care is delivered in a way that nurtures her independence, using simple communication and ensuring the right support is available for more complex decisions.
Alongside daily care, therapeutic support including exercises and music therapy helps aid her ongoing recovery and wellbeing.
Returning home, reunited with her beloved cats, also coincided with her 65th birthday, making it a truly special milestone shared with family and her care team. It was a simple but special day that included sunshine, tea, cake, and plenty of laughter, shared with the people who matter most.
Stories like this sit at the heart of Brain Injury Awareness Week for us: highlighting resilience, the importance of rehabilitation, and the difference that tailored home care can make in supporting people to live well beyond injury. 💚
