Kieran received this mug from his niece recently… and to be fair, she wasn’t wrong! 😂☕

But it got us thinking, plane spotting isn’t that far off from what we do every day in Engineering & Technical Recruitment. Both take a bit of obsession, curiosity, and an eye for the details most people miss 👀.

Whether it’s identifying a Rolls-Royce Trent engine from 3,000ft 🛫 or pinpointing the right HVAC or Maintenance Engineer for a key client 🔧 — it’s all about passion, precision, and knowing what you’re looking for.

The “plane spotting wankers” of the world are the same type who keep industries running — the detail-obsessed, the technically minded, and the ones who genuinely care about getting it right ✅.

🚀 What a blast at the Scotland Manufacturing & Supply Chain Expo!

We spent the day soaking up innovation, meeting brilliant engineers, and discovering cutting-edge tech across the manufacturing and supply chain world. Big thanks to the Scotland Manufacturing & Supply Chain Expo team for pulling together such a fantastic event 👏

One of the highlights: getting to hang out by the HAAS F1 pop-up (yep, that’s Kieran in the pic). As a die-hard Mercedes fan, he had to resist the urge to swap their livery!

🔧 A few reflections from the recruitment side:

The energy around robotics, precision engineering, and digital transformation was electric ⚡

For companies scaling their engineering teams: now’s the time to lean into innovation and talent acquisition like never before

Happy Friday, everyone!

Now, if you know us, you’ll know Scottish Rugby often sneaks into our conversations—and truth be told, some of us are well past being “passionate supporters” (dedicated might be the kinder word 😅).

This week, Scottish Rugby announced several senior appointments to strengthen their High-Performance Department, with David Nucifora—the mastermind behind Ireland’s rugby transformation—helping shape the future. The focus? Building pathways and investing in the people and structures that give young players the best chance of success.

That really resonates with us as a business. In the Engineering & Technical industries, we see the same challenge: if we want the next generation of engineers, innovators, and leaders, we can’t just hope the talent will appear.

We need structured pathways, dedicated mentors, and an environment where people can grow and perform at their best.

Just like rugby, it’s about spotting potential early, investing in development, and creating the right conditions for success.

So, as we close the week, here’s our thought:
