Right, it’s official… this is happening.

With just 33 days to go, the arrival of our Make-A-Wish® UK shirts has made it all feel very real here at TRG.

On Sunday 3rd May, Paul Hipkiss and Karinna Shields will be stepping up to take on the Birmingham Half Marathon. 13.1 miles of early mornings, tough training sessions, and plenty of determination.

But this is about much more than the distance.

We are incredibly proud to be supporting Make-A-Wish UK, a charity that creates life-changing moments for children with critical illnesses and their families. That is what’s driving every mile.

Training hasn’t been easy, but knowing the impact behind the challenge makes it all worthwhile.

And now the t-shirts have arrived… it’s getting serious. No backing out now Paul and Karinna 👀

Easter at The Recruitment Group has been all about giving back 🐣💛

Over the past week, our teams have been out and about in their local communities delivering Easter eggs, spreading a little extra joy where it’s needed most. From supporting local initiatives to surprising people with small gestures, it’s been amazing to see everyone getting involved.

We’ve also been sharing the Easter spirit with our clients across our local areas, dropping off Easter treats as a thank you for their continued partnership. It’s a small way of saying we appreciate working with you, and we’re proud to support the businesses that support us.

A special mention to our Witney branch, who have been busy collecting for their local food bank, helping ensure families in the community don’t go without this Easter. Donations like these really do make a difference, with Easter egg collections helping bring a bit of joy to families who might otherwise miss out.

And of course, our onsite team have been getting involved too, sharing the Easter spirit directly with our candidates and making sure everyone feels part of it.

The thing that’s surprised me most about recruitment is the element of luck. I can make 50 sales calls in a day and not book a single meeting, but then make two calls and end up booking one. It’s all about timing, and that’s what I enjoy most. It’s about taking chances, staying consistent, and being ready when the opportunity comes.

One of my biggest challenges was one of my very first calls. I got through to a decision maker and had no clue what to say. Compared to now, speaking to decision makers feels like second nature. I overcame that by putting myself in uncomfortable situations. That’s where you learn the most and build real confidence.

I understand my role much better now. I’ve always had the confidence, it was more about knowing what to say and how to say it. I’m taking it day by day, focusing on improving and getting better with every conversation.

Experience needed:
1. MIG Welding minimum 3 years
2. Overhead & Vertical Welding
3. Experience working with medium-gauge materials (up to 10mm)
3. Assisting with initial demolition work when required
