The side of business that rarely gets spoken about.
People often ask how the business is going.
They see the LinkedIn posts, the new clients, the placements and assume everything is great.
The truth is, they're only seeing the moments I choose to share.
What they don't see are the sleepless nights.
The self-doubt!!
The constant feeling that everyone is relying on you!!
The pressure of knowing that every decision you make has consequences, not just for you but for your clients and your family.
As men, I don't think we're very good at talking about it.
We're expected to keep going, keep smiling, keep finding solutions and keep carrying the weight. So that's exactly what we do.
But behind closed doors, many business owners are fighting battles nobody knows about!
Wondering if they're GOOD ENOUGH.
Questioning whether they've made the right decision?
Feeling guilty because they're physically at home but mentally still at work.
Missing moments with their family because they're thinking about tomorrow's problems.
Sometimes it's simply not being able to switch off. Lying awake at 2am replaying conversations, worrying about tomorrow, the weight of the business rests entirely on your shoulders.
You start carrying stress into every part of your life without even realising it.
The strange thing is that none of us started a business because we wanted more stress.
Most of us did it because we wanted more freedom, more control and a better life for the people we love.
Over the last year, I've realised that resilience isn't pretending everything is fine or believing you have to deal with everything on your own.
It's having the courage to admit when you're struggling, leaning on the people around you and then getting up the next day to make the next phone call, solve the next problem and keep moving forward.
If you're a business owner reading this and you're finding it harder than you expected, you're certainly not the only one.
No business is built by one person alone.
Here's to everyone quietly carrying more than most people realise.
