Job Title: SEN Education Mentor
Location: Wokingham – Alternative Provision
Contract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only 8.30pm-16.30pm
Salary: £20,000-£26,000pa -DOE

About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated SEN Education Mentor to join our team at an alternative provision in Wokingham. This provision caters to children and young people aged 5-19 with a variety of additional needs, including Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD), Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role involves providing high-quality, person-centered support that promotes the physical, emotional, and educational development of children with complex needs.

You will play a vital role in supporting our students in their learning, both in small groups and on a one-to-one basis, helping them achieve their potential in a safe and nurturing environment. We pride ourselves on delivering therapeutic interventions and holistic care that focuses on the individual needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:
• Work with children and young people aged 5-19 with various additional needs, including PMLD, SEND, ASD, and associated behavioral challenges.
• Provide personal care and support for students with PMLD, including feeding, toileting.
• Assist with the preparation and delivery of engaging and differentiated learning activities, ensuring they are accessible to all students.
• Work 1:1 or in small groups to deliver interventions, therapies, and learning activities as outlined in the student’s EHCP (Education, Health, and Care Plan).
• Foster a safe, supportive, and structured environment where all students feel valued and supported.
• Help students develop communication, social, and life skills using strategies and tools such as Makaton, PECS, or other assistive technology (training provided if necessary).
• Provide emotional and behavioral support to students, implementing agreed behavior management strategies.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, SENCO, therapists, and external agencies to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
• Attend and contribute to meetings regarding student progress and welfare, keeping accurate records and monitoring their individual development.
• Act as a positive role model and develop strong, trusting relationships with students and their families.

Essential Requirements:
• Experience working with children or young people with additional needs, particularly PMLD, SEND, and ASD.
• Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting children with challenging behavior or complex needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, staff, and parents/carers.
• Flexibility, adaptability, and a willingness to undertake training in specialist areas (e.g., behavior management, communication strategies, personal care).
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
• Previous experience in a similar SEN support role, particularly in an alternative provision or specialist school setting.
• Relevant qualifications such as CACHE Level 3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent.
• Experience with Makaton, PECS, or other alternative communication methods.
• A solid understanding of EHCPs and how they guide the learning and support of students with additional needs.

Remedicare Education Services is looking for a proactive Operations Assistant to work across two sites in Wokingham. We run two alternative provisions delivering therapeutic interventions for special needs students. We need someone who is a proactive problem solver and ready to dive into the day-to-day operations.

This is a new role for Remedicare and requires someone highly organised to support our current operations lead. Some of the activities involved in this role include:

• Preparing the centres before and after students arrive.
• Ordering food daily for students and helping to prepare lunches.
• Checking supplies and ordering as needed.
• Checking our fleet of vehicles and refuelling each afternoon.
• Cleaning the fleet of car interiors after daily activities.
• Preparing rooms for children’s activities.
• Handling administrative tasks (answering emails/calls, giving tours of the services).
• Booking activities for all students.
As the service grows, the responsibilities will evolve, and we expect our staff to adapt to the needs of the business.

Details:
• Full-time, Monday to Friday (Term time only)
• Flexible start times, ideally 8 AM to 4 PM
• Salary: £22,000

Outreach Worker**

The Post Holder will report to: Education Manager
Salary: £22,000 - £24,000 (FTE £27,000 - £30,000)
Term time only 40 weeks + 1
Main Tasks / Accountabilities
This is not intended to be an exhaustive or definitive list. You may be required to carry out other duties where necessary.

As an Outreach Worker you will:

 Work with schools to provide support for children (and their families) at risk of permanent exclusion. Either in a group or 1:1 within an educational setting.
 To provide outreach support to students in most need, who are unable to access education by identifying, assessing and evaluating the outcome of the impact the intervention has achieved.
 Be aware of the services available around the Local Authority, ensuring that families in most need are supported to access these services. You will have access to the support the parents and school needs to get involved with their children’s development, health, learning and wellbeing.

Risk Management

 Contribute to risk awareness in carrying out duties and raise issues where appropriate.
 Assess and manage risk associated with assigned cases/service delivery to ensure safeguarding of service users.

Case Management

 Monitor, manage and deliver support plans in specified service area.
 Identify, devise and implement intervention strategies to prevent permanent exclusion.
 Undertake case related reports and maintain records in accordance with procedural and legislative requirements.

Planning & Organising

 Plan weekly support sessions to meet the needs of students.
 Assist in development and project work, and working with other staff to provide information and feedback.
 Plan and organise own work and/or intervention to meet given priorities.
 Assess the range and volume of work to be undertaken for the days or weeks ahead and plan to ensure it is completed on time and to an appropriate standard.

Finance/Resource Management

 Make recommendations for the provision of services in line with the budget determined according to assessment of needs.
Analysis, Reporting and Documentation
 Maintain and submit records following relevant school policies and procedures. Work with others
 Respond to individual needs and/or answer simple queries politely and ask for assistance where necessary.
 Report any concerns, problems or incidents, eg safeguarding, behaviour in accordance with relevant reporting procedures.
 Liaise and work in partnership with key leads for other activities that may impact on own areas of responsibilities.
Work with others

 Liaise, communicate and work in partnership with other internal departments, partner organisations, agencies and/or contractors and engage with the community and volunteers.
 Contribute to the induction of new staff.

Resources
 Operate and check equipment is safe to use and properly adjusted, carry out appropriate maintenance and use of equipment in the correct and safe manner.
