We are currently networking online and all of our monthly formal meetings start at 12noon and finish at 2pm. The Cappuccino Connections meeting is our informal/drop in meeting and that starts at 10.30am until 12noon. The professions that we are inviting visitors to attend and experience an Athena Network meeting within the Reading and Henley region are:

We were delighted to welcome Sara Brandis at The Athena Network Reading East, who delivered a thought-provoking Business Development session, Reflect to Perfect.

The session was really well received, allowing members to step away from the day-to-day and spend some valuable time reflecting on their businesses and, importantly, their ‘why’.

Sara guided us through a series of practical exercises that really got us thinking about our core values, motivations and what drives us in our businesses.

It was a valuable opportunity to pause, reflect and perhaps reconnect with the reasons we started our businesses in the first place. Taking this time for ourselves can help us move into autumn with renewed energy, clarity and resilience.

A warm welcome to Sara Brandis, who will be leading our Reading East Business Development Training: Reflect to Perfect

As we head into autumn, this inspiring session is all about the power of reflection and the value of taking time to hear ourselves.

This talk is about reflection and the value of taking time to hear ourselves, to dig into what our core values and drivers are when it comes to our businesses.

Sara will lead a reflective practice which will require a pen and paper! The goal is to freshen up our connection or to collect new insights into why we do what we do. The 'why' for this is to help us move into the autumn with renewed energy for our businesses. When we connect to our why, it really helps build resilience within us.

Sara believes that we all do our best thinking when we are really heard and understood. Her coaching, often with parents, focuses on creating a safe environment and trust so that this can happen for her clients.

Today we welcomed 11 regions from along the length of the M4, with 7 Regional Directors joining us for a morning of networking, connection and conversation.

We enjoyed 8 breakout sessions, giving everyone the chance to meet new people and chat in smaller groups. Conversation prompts ranged from:

☕ What does ‘putting your feet up’ mean to you?
☕ What are you putting in place to elevate your business?
☕ What back-office task do you avoid doing every month?
☕ Why did you start your business?

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at The Athena Network Reading South yesterday for our latest Business Development Training with Zoe Rose, Family Solicitor at Knights.

Zoe delivered a fascinating and thought-provoking session on Unconscious Bias – It’s Affecting Your Business, So How Can You Deal With It?

We explored what unconscious bias is and how those instant judgements we make can influence the way we see people, businesses and even professions.

Zoe got us thinking about something as simple as the words we use to describe what we do. Do they really communicate what we want them to? And what assumptions might others make when they hear our professional titles?

The interactive exercise around the business titles of the women in the room was a real highlight – generating some great conversations and plenty of food for thought!

A fantastic session, clearly delivered, with lots of interaction and some really valuable takeaways for everyone.
