Following on from the FSB Connect event in Northop, Fiona and Sarah, headed straight over to Venue Cymru for event number two of the day – Diverse Together North Wales 2026.

The conference brought together organisations from across North Wales to explore collaboration and a joined-up approach to cohesion, culture and wellbeing. The interactive workshops were a fantastic way to connect with others, share ideas and learn about the brilliant work taking place across the region.

Days like these show just how much can be achieved when organisations come together with a shared goal of creating stronger, more inclusive communities.

This morning, one of our Lead Specialist Job Coaches, Fiona, presented at the FSB Connect North Wales networking event alongside Emma Roberts, Partnership Lead at RCS.

Emma began by sharing information about the wellbeing services RCS offers and how businesses across Wales can benefit from them. Fiona then spoke about the Go Gwyrdd project and the role of a Job Coach in supporting people with barriers to employment to secure paid work or take positive steps towards employment.

There was plenty of interest and discussion in the room, and we're hopeful it will lead to some valuable new partnerships. Events like this are a great reminder of the importance of networking – you never know what opportunities for collaboration are right on your doorstep.

Another great session today with Sam from Grŵp Llandrillo-Menai. This was the second session focused on numeracy.

We began by recapping last week's session and discussing what we like to spend our money on. Answers ranged from Monster Energy drinks to trainers, and everything in between. This led into a conversation about how to keep track of money, budget effectively, and monitor spending habits.

Sam then introduced a fun and interactive activity, pulling out a bag of breakfast items and challenging everyone to match the correct prices to each item. This proved to be a really engaging task that everyone enjoyed. Once the prices had been identified, participants made a list of their favourite breakfast foods and worked out how much their chosen breakfast might cost.

A great session that encouraged everyone to think about money management in a practical, real-world context while developing their numeracy skills.

On Monday, we started a new numeracy topic with Sam from Grŵp Llandrillo-Menai, focused on numeracy in the workplace.

We began by talking about where we’ve used maths over the past week. This included paying for items, checking change, using banking apps, and other everyday situations.

We then moved on to coins, adding different values together to find totals. After that, we practised simple addition using a number grid for support.

The final activity was a role play task. In pairs, one person acted as the customer and the other as the waiter/waitress. The customer placed an order from a menu and worked out the total cost. The waitress also calculated the order to check both totals matched.

A practical session that helped build confidence using numbers in real-life situations. We look forward to next week.

This afternoon, Rufus attended an interview with Domino's in Colwyn Bay.

His job coach, Paul, was there to support him, waiting outside during the interview and taking him home afterwards.

We're incredibly proud of Rufus for taking this important step and putting himself forward for the opportunity. We should know by Sunday whether he has been successful.

Everything is crossed for you, Rufus - good luck! 🤞

On Saturday, Dan worked his second shift at the café in Tir Prince. With it being bank holiday weekend, the place was absolutely bonkers, but Dan took it all in his stride. He got stuck in straight away and was so happy to be part of the team.

Paul, Dan’s job coach, was on site with him to see how he was getting on and was incredibly proud of the way Dan handled such a busy shift. It was lovely to see his confidence shining through and how much he enjoyed being involved.

Whilst there, Paul also caught up with Andy, during his litter-picking shift.

Great work, guys 👏

Today marked the final session (4/4) of our Communication in the Workplace course with Grŵp Llandrillo-Menai👏

Today, Sam was joined by her colleague Eirwyn, who carried out some mock interviews with the team to see what skills they have built up over the past four weeks.

This followed on from some prep work we completed last week, where the group came up with common interview questions they may be asked, along with some questions THEY could ask during an interview.

Everyone sat individually with Eirwyn and answered a series of questions, and they all did an amazing job. The conversations flowed naturally and it was fantastic to see how much confidence everyone has gained throughout the course.

Meanwhile, Sam worked with the individuals waiting to see Eirwyn on a range of other activities. This included simulated phone call role play, as we discussed how difficult talking on the phone can sometimes feel. The group then moved onto some communication and teamwork activities, including collectively drawing a house on paper that had been torn into multiple pieces.

An all-round fantastic session that kept everyone engaged, focused and communicating throughout 👏

We’re looking forward to continuing the course in a couple of weeks with a new focus on numeracy.
