Happy 🐝 Optamor's resident green-thumbed champion (and Principal Consultant) Seeney's shares his top tips for making your garden Bee-rilliant! 🐝
Go Wild!: Foxgloves, Echiums, Lavender, and most types of wildflowers are amazing for attracting bees🐝! Others to consider include Daisies, Jasmine, Sunflowers, Hyacinths and Clematis. Packs of wild flower seeds are a great and cheap way to start, but make sure you use mesh or netting in the areas sewn, or birdies will eat em' straight away!
A 'Help to Bee'🐝 Scheme: If you don’t have the space you could try a “bee 🐝 house” or “bee 🐝 nest. These are available online cheaply enough. Site it near flowers if possible!
Keep it Local: Have a look around you where you live, are there any species of flowers you see wild nearby? Make sure to choose some of these to plant in your space as they obviously thrive in the local habitat. I.e. in Southsea, Bluebells are an example of this.
You're killing it!: Don’t over water! Clogged roots mean dead plants. Do your research and don’t “over mother” them, most plants require much less water than we think, but that’s for you to work out.
