Some good news for the recruitment market! 🙌

It's always nice to share some positive news, particularly when it comes to recruitment!

The latest KPMG/REC Report on Jobs has revealed that permanent placements have increased for the second month running, with the fastest growth in four years.

Temporary recruitment is also on the up, and there are encouraging signs of confidence returning to the market.

And that's great news for businesses, candidates and those of us working in recruitment!

Here at Jigsaw, we've had a busy few weeks, with new vacancies, interviews, offers and placements keeping us on our toes.

We're certainly looking forward to seeing what the final few months of 2026 bring.

Robin looks very serious in this picture. He’s feeling a little glum because he’s got a kidney stone, but there’s been plenty going on behind the scenes at Jigsaw.

Why good candidates withdraw – and what employers can do about it

We speak to candidates every day, so we often get to hear the side of the recruitment process that employers don’t always see.

One thing that comes up quite regularly is why someone who was genuinely interested in a role ends up withdrawing from the process.

🕵️ Case File #002 – The Candidate Who Wasn't Looking

One thing we've learnt over the years is that the best candidates don't always come from job adverts.

Sometimes they do. But more often than not, the person our client ends up hiring wasn't actively looking for a new role.

They weren't searching job boards or applying for vacancies, but they were open to a conversation if the right opportunity came along.

That's why we spend so much time talking to people, keeping in touch and building relationships, rather than relying solely on advertising.

When a client asks us to find someone with a very specific skill set, we're often able to pick up the phone because we've already built that relationship.

Sometimes it's not about advertising a vacancy, it's about knowing who to call.
