After spending 577 days in the UK, I found two contacts for whom I was looking for references for my recruiting business, Nikoloz-job Recruiting. I thank my Irish colleagues, especially Rosemary Morrison Dip.M FCIM, MIC, CMC, Dip.RSA. and Dylan Loughlin FCIPD
Everyone talked about a labour shortage when we first arrived in the UK. However, after delving deeper into the processes, I realized that the issue could be more complex. Despite the demand in various sectors, British businesses are reluctant to invite skilled workers from abroad, and it is hard to find qualified personnel within the country.
The UK has a monopoly on labour in the agricultural sector, which only four companies control. This creates difficulties for starting businesses such as mine.
Many companies are looking for experience and reputation, reminiscent of a joke from Ukraine about seeking a 20-year-old worker with ten years of experience. To gain this experience, you need to take the first steps.
I want to conclude by saying that having been a migrant twice due to conflicts initiated by Russia against Georgia and Ukraine (from where I was compelled to migrate first in the 1990s and then in 2022 from Ukraine), I am well-equipped to tackle all of these challenges. Thank you.
