I started Anne Corder Recruitment in 1995 with a simple objective – to break the mould of the traditional high street recruitment agencies, all of which were sales driven, promising the perfect candidate every time.
As a former HR Manager, I had been on the receiving end of recruitment agency cold calls and didn’t like it. That is why Anne Corder Recruitment was founded on the principals of best practice recruitment - underpinned by integrity, honesty, transparency and value.
The business was based in Park Road initially. We offered ground floor access and shop window space to promote vacancies. The look and feel of the office and interview rooms was carefully thought through to provide a confidential, calm and inviting environment to help candidates relax so we could get to know them better.
We treated every candidate as an individual and everyone received the same level of service whatever their skillset, career history or personal background. Our sole objective was to ensure we got the right person into the right job. If we didn’t think the match was quite right, they were not put forward to clients.
Nothing has changed with that approach.
This was all before the digital revolution changed our lives forever. We operated with fax machines and handled hundreds of hard copy cvs. Now we operate in a paperless office environment using the latest digital marketing techniques to drive our business.
My previous experience working in the HR departments of several high profile companies shaped my working practices, whilst also giving me specialist expertise in HR, training recruitment. It’s this experience that has driven Anne Corder Recruitment to handle vacancies in the same way as an HR department would, rather than a high street agency.
ACR is now one of the region’s most respected independent agencies amongst HR professionals and managers.

After being based on Park Road in Peterborough city centre for 18 years, in 2013 we moved to new offices in Lynch Wood Business Park.
We had more space; more interview and conference rooms and were in the midst of many of our existing and potential business clients.
A city centre base is much less important than it was when we first launched the business and our move reflected our long term commitment to remain fresh, modern and contemporary without losing the intrinsic business values which had helped us retain so many clients over the years.
Today, ACR handles permanent, contract, interim and temporary full and part-time jobs across a wide cross section of business sectors including HR, administration, secretarial, marketing, sales, new business development, account management, accounts, customer service, IT, analysts and graduate recruitment.
Our team
We are incredibly proud of our team at Anne Corder Recruitment. Over the last year we’ve had several new members join the business - each bringing new skills, experiences and interests. Yet there’s one trait we all have in common, something that makes a person the right ‘fit’ for us: the ability to listen.
Our culture is based on listening rather than selling. We do not adopt an aggressive, invasive, speculative sales approach – punting candidates around like commodities.
We work hard to understand the needs and aspirations of both clients and candidates. This is achieved by listening. This unique personal partnership ensures a lasting and fulfilling employment solution for both.
As a business we have continually invested in our people; our premises; our systems; our marketing and our knowledge. We have remained true to our original values and objectives but have embraced the digital revolution to speed up the whole recruitment process.

As one of the city’s longest established recruitment agencies, we pride ourselves on supporting the local business community. Whether that’s in collaborating with other local leaders to deliver seminars, or in supporting charitable fundraisers like the ever-popular Stamford Santa Fun Run.
Anne is also secretary of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) locally; a long-standing judge in the Peterborough Business Awards; and is involved in a range of working groups and business forums in the city.
