It's office Christmas party season again! But before you crack open the bubbly, let's just take a couple of moments to set a couple of ground rules!

Rule 1: Don’t be a bore! 🥱

Your office Christmas party is the perfect opportunity to get to know your colleagues (and boss) a little better and cement long-lasting relationships on a slightly more personal level.

It’s a time to have fun and be merry!

It’s not the time to talk about last month’s expense reports, next month’s marketing campaign and how annoying it is that you don’t get paid until the day before Christmas… etc.

Keep the conversation casual, fun and avoid work topics as much as humanly possible.


Rule 2: Put the phone away!

Don’t be that person.

You know the one; constantly snapping pictures, sending Tweets and updating Facebook and Instagram (etc.) throughout the office party.

(Ok if you’re the social media manager at your office, this will be a little harder…)

This is your opportunity to have fun and actually get to know other people.

If you’re having “the best time ever” how do you have so much time to keep going on social media?


Rule 3: Don’t drink too much. 🤢

I know, it’s Christmas; it’s time to let loose a little bit.

But there is a line that you really don’t want to cross.

Try to stay within your own limits; don’t get sucked into the peer pressure of downing drinks, playing drinking games or keeping up with the crowd, if you know you can’t hack it.

Keep yourself in check, make sure you’ve got a safe ride home and then you won’t have to worry about that dreaded morning-after-the-night-before-oh-crap-what-did-I-do? feeling.


Rule 4: Don’t act too excited about the open bar.

We don't need to say anything else on this one! 😉


Rule 5: HAVE FUN! 🥳

Ok, we're not trying to be a party pooper!

We’re just trying to help you have fun so you can look back on the Christmas party with a smile rather than a terrible sinking feeling in your stomach.

You don’t want to ruin your Christmas break by worrying about going back into the office!

Whatever you're doing... have a blast!!! 🥂

Our client, an estates management company, is looking for a Commercial Accountant to join the finance team on a permanent basis.

This role would suit either someone who is studying towards an accounting qualification and looking to build on their skills and experience, or potentially somebody more senior, on a part-time basis.

An understanding of or experience within event management or estates would be beneficial but by no means essential.

Today we'd like to introduce you to the fabulous Bridget Howard - our Head of Finance and Operations

Bridget joined ACR in 2008 after working in HR and Finance for a number of years. Starting out focusing on payroll, she quickly moved on to accounts, administration, and operations before being appointed to her current role in 2021.

So, what does Bridget enjoy doing outside of work?

“My family and I are big Formula 1 fans and go to as many races as we can. We’ve been to races in Abu Dhabi and Barcelona, and hoping to go to the Australian one next. I am also a keen runner and enjoy weekends away in our motorhome.”

When asked about ACR, Bridget said “The best thing about working here is the team and our unique culture. Everyone is really professional but also genuinely caring too. It’s a great place to work and I love the fact that we do things so differently to most other recruitment agencies and get great feedback from our clients and candidates.”

Yesterday's Cambridgeshire Chambers of Commerce event is a wrap!

It was a great opportunity for connecting and sharing what businesses are up to in and around Cambridgeshire right now. Emily Roach and Alex Smith got to meet a lot of new and familiar faces during the day, and Nel Woolcott presented on issues affecting recruitment right now.

And what a superb venue! 🛩️ Thank you to Imperial War Museum Duxford for hosting us.

Our story

I started Anne Corder Recruitment in 1995 with a simple objective – to break the mould of the traditional high street recruitment agencies, all of which were sales driven, promising the perfect candidate every time.

As a former HR Manager, I had been on the receiving end of recruitment agency cold calls and didn’t like it. That is why Anne Corder Recruitment was founded on the principals of best practice recruitment - underpinned by integrity, honesty, transparency and value.

The business was based in Park Road initially. We offered ground floor access and shop window space to promote vacancies. The look and feel of the office and interview rooms was carefully thought through to provide a confidential, calm and inviting environment to help candidates relax so we could get to know them better.
