Foxgroves Recruitment are working exclusively with Just People HR, a specialist HR and employment law consultancy working solely with the education sector.

This really is a WONDERFUL role for a well established HR Consultancy as an in-house HR Advisor.

They support schools, academies and large trusts across Cumbria and the wider North West.

This is the complex end of the work. Complex investigations, panel and appeal advice, TUPE consultations and restructures. You'd manage your own clients and casework with a lot of autonomy, with real scope to move into team leadership as the business grows.

It's a small friendly team of around 6, all fairly remote, who meet regularly at the Penrith office for team briefing, collaboration and support once a week. So you get the independence of home working without being on your own with it.

What's on offer…

💷 £45,000 - £50,000 depending on experience
🏡 home-based, with a weekly team day in Penrith

Chief Information Officer - The most senior information governance appointment in the force. Think data protection, disclosure, records, cyber risk and everything in between.

You'd lead a function of around 30 people through two direct reports. One side is disclosure - Freedom of Information, subject access, family court disclosure, and the in-house DBS team making barring decisions. The other is governance - data protection, information security, cyber risk and records management across the full information lifecycle.

💷 £60,912 - £64,878 depending on experience
📍 Penrith HQ - 3 days on site, 2 from home

We have picked up some new followers recently so it feels like a good time to properly re-introduce myself, my business and my wider team.

I'm Lyndsey, founder of Foxgroves Recruitment, an independent agency based in Penrith, working across Cumbria and South West Scotland. Still very much a small, independent friendly agency with offices here in Penrith.

Quick update on the two Fixed Term Contact HR roles I've been working on with a growing education organisation in Cumbria.

This is a proper end-to-end role. You'd be the only HR person on site, reporting directly to one of the company Directors, with a seat at senior leadership meetings from day one.

Strategic and operational in equal measure, so you'll be shaping the people agenda one day and working through a live absence case the next.

Foxgroves Recruitment are working on a second role with this growing education organisation, and this one is for the ER specialists out there.

If you're the person who enjoys casework, this is a role where employee relations is the job rather than the bit you squeeze in around everything else. You'd have your own allocated group of schools, managing a live caseload across absence, capability, conduct, grievance and performance, and working with the unions throughout.

The organisation is expanding fast, with new schools joining and the workforce growing, so the HR team is being built out to keep pace. You'd be one of two HR Advisers in a team of four reporting to the HR Manager.

📍 Location is flexible - Carlisle, Kendal or West Cumbria all work. Patches are allocated around where the team lives, so you're not driving the length of the county.

The one fixed commitment is Tuesdays at the Carlisle head office for the team meeting day.

CIPD is welcome but not essential here. What matters is having done the casework properly in a unionised environment.

Foxgroves Recruitment are working with a growing education organisation on a Senior HR appointment, and this is a really exciting one.

The organisation is expanding fast. New schools are joining, the workforce is growing, and there are some significant people projects on the go. This role has been created as a genuine deputy to the Head of HR - you'd lead a team of four, own the day-to-day operational delivery, and take the more complex casework yourself where needed.

The biggest part of the job is bringing new schools on board. TUPE transfers from start to finish, formal consultation with the unions, and all the harmonisation questions that come with staff moving across on local authority terms. If you've done that kind of work and enjoyed it, you'll like this.

📍 One of the best bits - you can be based pretty much anywhere in Cumbria. Carlisle, Kendal, West Cumbria, it doesn't matter.

The schools are spread right across the region so your week is built around where you're needed. The only fixed commitment is Tuesdays in Carlisle for the team meeting day.

It's a 12 month fixed term contract direct with the employer, with a strong possibility of something permanent for the right person.

I LOVED today! 🧡

Today was our HR on The Solway Summer Networking & CPD Session in Dumfries and our two incredible speakers definitely delivered!

Today we covered some of the most important and timely topics facing HR and People professionals right now...

⭐ Sarah Schofield from The Safe Woman was nothing short of inspirational. She opened our eyes to the very real risks women face every single day and showed us how organisations can move beyond a simple policy into genuinely actionable training that makes a real difference.

🌸 Lindsay Thomson CBT/EMDR from Lindsay Thomson Ltd brought the topic of menopause to life in the most wonderful way. Her honesty, humour and warmth made a subject that can feel difficult to broach completely comfortable and relatable for everyone in the room, and her personal journey was as moving as it was educational.

It was also brilliant to see some new faces today as our community continues to grow. Jennie Griffiths and I are so incredibly proud of what we have built together and what HR on The Solway has become - a space where the HR community in South West Scotland comes together to share ideas, continue their CPD and champion the profession they love.

Thank you to everyone who came along today. You are what makes this group so special.
