mashing wee trip around the doors in Aberdeen yesterday.

Always great to catch up with everyone, review the year with each client, and spend time with our guys and girls on the floor who keep the choppers flying.

Also managed to bump into a fair few engineers in the evening who we’ve helped secure new roles over the last 15 years or so – which made for a cracking night all round.

Now feeling every single one of the 6,000 beers and Jack Daniels consumed…

oday is St Andrew’s Day — Scotland’s national day — but the story behind it reaches far beyond our own borders.

St Andrew wasn’t actually Scottish.

He was a fisherman from Galilee, brother of St Peter, and became known as a man who traveled widely, built communities, and connected people wherever he went.

Over the centuries he became the patron saint of Scotland, Greece, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, and several other nations — a reminder of how influence and inspiration can cross cultures, industries, and borders.

So why Scotland?

According to tradition, relics of Andrew were brought here around the 8th century, and he was adopted as the nation’s patron saint because of what he represented:

Strength, humility, courage, and support for others — qualities us Scottish people identified with.

His diagonal cross — the Saltire — became the Scottish flag and is now one of the oldest national flags still in use anywhere in the world.

For us in business, aviation, renewables, and beyond, St Andrew’s Day is a small reminder of something bigger:

Your impact isn’t limited to where you start.
Your values travel further than your passport.
And the communities you build can become your legacy.

Wherever you are in the world today — Scotland, Dubai, Europe, the U.S., or further afield — here’s to carrying those qualities into our work and into the people we support.

On Sunday I again completed the annual Paisley 10k, in roastie toastie temps.
I always make a point of getting along to this, zero training as always, which I used to be able to get away with, and it tells when you compare the times these last few years against the times in my 20s & early 30s.

A cracking event that once again showed what makes Paisley such a special place.
From those smashing out silly 10k times times, to folk like myself getting their backside through it, to the many running for great causes - the atmosphere was fantastic from start to finish.

The kids also got their moment in the spotlight with the 3k Fun Run, where our very own Gleniffer 2017s squad proudly wore their new Volantes Technical Recruitment sponsored jerseys ahead of the season kicking off this weekend.

A cracking day all round, finished off with a well-earned couple of beers in the sun
Huge credit to & everyone else that’s involved in bringing it all together.

This past week marks a major milestone in commercial aviation — and we at Volantes Technical Recruitment couldn’t be more excited!

Global Airlines led by the ambitious James Asquith has successfully completed its inaugural transatlantic flight from JFK International Air Terminal to Glasgow Airport using their first A380 aircraft. A true celebration of ambition, innovation, and bold thinking in the skies.

Global Airlines was launched in 2021 by a young James Asquith with a unique proposition: to buy up secondhand “SuperJumbo” jets and fly them from London Gatwick on the busiest routes to the US and beyond

As a specialist aviation recruitment firm based here in Scotland, we are delighted to see Glasgow playing host to such an event and of course i had to take my wee plane daft 4 year old Murray down to the airport to see the big bird.

As always, the demand is high at the moment for Licenced Engineers in the rotary world in the U.K

We are looking to speak to anyone holding a UKCAA B1.3 or B2 Licence that’s having a think about their next move.

There are roles available on various Aircragt types , locations as well as sectors such as HEMS , SAR and all things Oil & Gas in Aberdeen.

Amongst the licenced roles we do also want to speak with any experienced sheet metal workers that would consider a permanent role based in Aberdeen.

Also, if you are someone that is maybe in an LAE role that would consider going into a HUMS analys role then again please get in touch, that one is office based 3 days per week so May be of interest to someone that isn’t currently based in Aberdeen.
