oday is St Andrew’s Day — Scotland’s national day — but the story behind it reaches far beyond our own borders.
St Andrew wasn’t actually Scottish.
He was a fisherman from Galilee, brother of St Peter, and became known as a man who traveled widely, built communities, and connected people wherever he went.
Over the centuries he became the patron saint of Scotland, Greece, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, and several other nations — a reminder of how influence and inspiration can cross cultures, industries, and borders.
So why Scotland?
According to tradition, relics of Andrew were brought here around the 8th century, and he was adopted as the nation’s patron saint because of what he represented:
Strength, humility, courage, and support for others — qualities us Scottish people identified with.
His diagonal cross — the Saltire — became the Scottish flag and is now one of the oldest national flags still in use anywhere in the world.
For us in business, aviation, renewables, and beyond, St Andrew’s Day is a small reminder of something bigger:
Your impact isn’t limited to where you start.
Your values travel further than your passport.
And the communities you build can become your legacy.
