A rewarding nightshift role, supporting a wonderful one-year-old boy

We're looking for an experienced Female Healthcare Assistant to join a very special care package supporting a wonderful 1-year-old little boy in his family home.

After spending a long time in hospital, he is now where he belongs – at home with his mum, dad, twin brother, and older sister. Our goal is to help him stay safe, comfortable, and happy while giving his family the support they need.

This little boy is full of smiles and has a lovely personality. He enjoys listening to lullabies, watching his favourite programmes on his tablet, and snuggling up with his cuddly toys at bedtime.

As part of his dedicated care team, you'll provide 1:1 overnight support, helping to manage his complex clinical needs, including tracheostomy care, BiPAP support, suctioning, oxygen saturation monitoring, gastrostomy care, medication administration, gravity feeds and personal care.

While the role requires confidence and experience with complex care, it's about so much more than clinical tasks. It's about providing reassurance to a family, creating a calm and comforting environment through the night, and helping a little boy continue to flourish at home.

If you're passionate about delivering exceptional care and want to be part of a supportive team that genuinely changes lives, we'd love to hear from you.

💙 Join Ocean Healthcare and help make home the very best place to be.

This is Reggie - you may remember us posting about him last year!

He's four years old, profoundly deaf, endlessly curious, and according to his mum Megan, absolutely unstoppable.

In this heartfelt interview, Megan shares the highs and lows of raising a deaf child, from diagnosis and cochlear implants to learning sign language as a family and helping others understand what deafness really looks like.

It's a really beautiful and insightful watch 💙

I am a passionate and dedicated Registered Manager and Mental Health Nurse with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, person-centred care.

I lead and support a team of dedicated nurses and care managers, ensuring that the services we provide are safe, effective, and continuously improving. A large part of my role involves monitoring quality and compliance, supporting staff development, managing safeguarding and risk, and working closely with teams, families, and professionals to achieve the best outcomes for the people we support. I take pride in creating a positive and supportive culture where both staff and service users can thrive.

Alongside my clinical and leadership responsibilities, I am passionate about driving improvement initiatives and maintaining high standards across all areas of care delivery. I enjoy mentoring others, encouraging professional growth, and helping teams build confidence and resilience in challenging environments.

Outside of work, I love spending time baking, travelling the world with my son and husband, and breeding beautiful British Shorthair cats, which brings me a great sense of joy and balance outside of my professional life.

In the UK, around 633,000 people are living with epilepsy, roughly 1 in every 107 people. Yet for many, it remains misunderstood, invisible, and too often reduced to what people think seizures “look like.”

And for children, the impact can be even greater. An estimated 100,000+ children and young people in the UK are living with epilepsy, navigating education, friendships, independence, and mental wellbeing alongside a condition that can change life in seconds.

Epilepsy may be relatively common, but that doesn’t make living with it any easier. Understanding epilepsy means looking beyond the statistic and recognising the daily impact it can have. 💜

🌊 MEET THE TEAM 🌊

As Care Home Lead at Ocean Healthcare, I’m leading an exciting new venture to establish a children’s home registered with Ofsted.

Our vision is to create a safe, supportive environment for children with complex needs, enabling them to receive high-quality care within their own community.

Since joining Ocean Healthcare in August 2025, I’ve been drawing on my background in residential childcare to drive this project forward. We’ve secured a home and are currently progressing through the Ofsted registration process. It’s a rewarding journey bringing this vision to life, and I’m proud to be part of such a supportive and dedicated team and loving what I get to do every day.

Recognising distress in someone living with dementia can be challenging, but understanding the possible causes is the first step toward compassionate care. 💙

This 15-point checklist highlights key factors to consider when someone with dementia is showing signs of distress, from health concerns and unmet needs to environmental triggers and caregiver well-being.

Every individual experiences dementia differently, which is why a person-centred approach, regular reassessment, and compassionate support are essential.

As carers, supporting others is what we do every day, but it’s just as important to take care of ourselves too 🌊

In this conversation, Natalie, our Head of Care and Lee, Mental Health Nurse talk about the importance of small actions that can make a big difference to wellbeing, from taking a proper break and setting boundaries, to checking in with colleagues and reaching out for support when needed.

At Ocean, we want every carer to know that support is always there, whether that’s through your team, your manager, or our Happiness Manager.

Because when we care for ourselves, we’re in a stronger position to care for others. 💙
