Carrot Tree - Books & Careers

Carrot Tree - Books & Careers Carrot Tree bookshop 'Little People Big Dreams'. KS3 & KS4 What do you need to do to get there?

Primary age KS1 & KS2

Engaging with young people to explore and inspire about careers & work experience and discuss their future. Work Experience and Career Paths KS1 - through to KS4

This page has been set up to encourage young people and their friends or parents to discuss their future - What do I want to do or be when I grow up - Do you know? Work Experience is important in making those ch

oices for your future. By experiencing various workplaces it can give you ideas for subject choices, college and university courses and help choose future employment. Not everyone wants to go to college or university, some people are really academic some are not, for those who are not academic it's as important to know what's available and how to access the information and make informed choices.........

This might sound boring if you are 13, 14 or 15 however if you look into it at an early age you may choose better. I have worked in recruitment & HR for a long time and so often I interview people who are unhappy and dread going to work in the morning. Let's make a difference now by getting on the right track and enjoying our Monday mornings :) # # #

So, the ๐Ÿ“šshop has been open for a whole week, and we've had some great support, thank you๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ™Œ๐Ÿ‘. We are open for April for Autism Acceptance Month, and this Friday, we have a new member of staff joining us for the day to come and see what we are up to and work in a team with us to produce a competition๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‚๐Ÿ“š๐ŸŽ‰

We have great titles, fabulous journals, and a few freebies on the website www.carrottree.co.uk. For any of our customers who would like to send a book review over, please do; on here is fine.๐Ÿค“

Our Mission is to give young people work experience and raise acceptance for Autism.

Our Vision is to have empty shelves by the end of April.

Happy April, everyone,

To celebrate this month, James and I have set up an online popup bookshop to give James a taste of work experience. Only 16% of people with Autism are at work; this figure has not changed for many years. This is one of our significant worries when James leaves education.

I have attended conferences and training during the past 12 months about Autism in the workplace, and there are some great programs available within global businesses. Still, it will take time for employers & employees to learn and understand a neurodiverse mind's capabilities and to improve the statistics.

We have chosen a beautiful range of books for primary age children they are biographies about famous people, beautifully illustrated these are books that can be reread time and time again.

If you could support and share, visit our bookshop and buy, we would appreciate it; we will be donating to National Autistic Society and a set of books are being donated to St Johnโ€™s CE Burscough Primary School as a thanks for the support we received whilst going through the diagnosis process.

James will receive a wage for his role as Head of Posting & Packaging. Supporting his IT, communication, organisational skills, finance, and travel (to the post office) skills.
