Candidates asking about funding and job security isn’t necessarily a sign they’re hesitant about your role.

In fact, they can be a pretty good sign that they’re seriously considering the opportunity.

We’re seeing more candidates ask things like:

Where does the funding for this role come from?

How long is the funding secured for?

Is this a newly created role or a replacement?

What are the organisation’s plans for the future?

They’re sensible questions, particularly in the charity and non-profit sector where some roles are linked to specific funding streams.

Often, a candidate asking these questions is thinking beyond simply getting through the interview process. They’re considering what it would be like to join your organisation and whether they can see themselves staying there.

So, don’t be put off by questions around funding or stability.

Be prepared to answer them openly and, where you can, include some of that information in the job advert from the start.

The candidates asking the most considered questions might just be the ones taking your opportunity most seriously.

Great to see the work of Ailsa’s Aim making a difference locally. 💚

They’ve recently donated around 100 skincare products to Northampton General Hospital to help support patients going through radiotherapy treatment.

A lovely example of the practical support they provide to people when they need it most.

Candidates are researching your organisation before they decide whether to apply.

Your job advert might be where they first find you, but it’s probably not where their research stops.

They’re visiting your website, scrolling through your social media, looking at your team on LinkedIn and searching for reviews.

What they find can influence whether they apply.

For charities and non-profits, this makes your wider online presence an important part of recruitment.

Your website might explain your mission brilliantly, but does it show what it’s like to work there?

Does your social media introduce the people behind the organisation?

Can candidates get a feel for your culture?

It all helps candidates get a feel for who you are.
