📰Sector news: the eye health industry is investing in research leadership — and that's good news for talent.
Congratulations to Dr Erika Kennington, newly appointed Director of Research at the Macular Society. Erika joins from Asthma+Lung UK, bringing a PhD in cardiac physiology and 17 years of experience turning research funding into outcomes that actually reach patients. She takes over from Dr Peter Bloomfield, who held the role since its creation.
Moves like this tell us something important about where the sector is heading: with around 300 people diagnosed with macular disease every day in the UK, organisations are recognising that strong research leadership isn't optional; it's essential.
For us, that's a signal too. As demand for skilled research and scientific talent in ophthalmology continues to rise, so does the need for recruitment partners who genuinely understand this space — the science, the mission, and the people driving it forward.
If you're hiring for research talent in eye health, or looking for your next opportunity in the field, we'd love to help you find the right fit.
