Our Learning & Development Coaches Dawn and Tracy attended the successful Business Support Showcase event at Nottingham Council House led by Nottingham City Council this week.

Promoting and highlighting the benefits of Apprenticeships throughout Nottingham is an important mission for us and having the opportunity to connect and work with the Council and Business Leaders in such an event is incredibly pivotal in its success.

We thank everyone who attended and took part, allowing us to promote Apprenticeships, development of employees and ensuring business growth is achievable by all.

Big changes are coming to apprenticeship funding for the 2026/27 academic year, and for many local businesses, the cost of training just hit zero.

If your annual payroll is under £3 million and you aren’t paying the Apprenticeship Levy, these reforms are designed specifically for you.

The landmark update means that government will now cover 100% of the training costs when you take on a young apprentice aged 16 to 24.

Age 16–18: 100% Funded

Age 19–24: 100% Funded (NEW for under-25s!)

Age 25+: Remains 5% co-investment (still incredible value!)

Unlocking Thousands in Additional Incentives:

It’s not just about fully funded training. The financial package to support small business growth is stronger than ever:

Hiring Incentives: Re-introducing the £2,000 young hire grant for employers recruiting a new apprentice aged 16–24 (effective October 2026).

Support Payments: The ongoing £1,000 support payment for employers taking on a 16 - 18 year old.

Ongoing Savings: Continuous National Insurance exemptions for apprentices under age 25.

Combined Impact: In many scenarios, an East Midlands SME taking on an apprentice could face zero training fees AND receive over £3,000 in cash incentives to offset operational costs during onboarding.
