June is Men’s Mental Health Month
Mental health affects every workplace, but for many men, talking about it remains one of the biggest challenges.
Some sobering facts:
- Men account for around 3 out of every 4 su***des in the UK.
- More than half of men say they find it difficult to talk about their mental health, often due to stigma or fear of appearing weak.
- In construction, the challenge is even greater. Construction workers are around 3 times more likely to die by su***de than the national average, making mental wellbeing just as important as physical safety.
- Recent industry research found that 28% of construction workers experienced suicidal thoughts at least once in the previous year.
At Approach Personnel, we spend every day speaking to people across construction, civils, housing, fit out and industrial sectors. Behind every CV, job title and project is a person, and their wellbeing matters.
This Men’s Mental Health Month, let’s continue to check in with colleagues, create supportive workplaces and remind people that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness.
