This year’s Compliance Hero was awarded to Alice Hunt for her fantastic effort in ensuring compliance across the business since joining Approach! We caught up with her for a few words about her recent recognition:

“I’m really pleased to have been named a ‘Compliance Hero’ at Approach Personnel. Having only joined the business six months ago, it’s great to have seen the improvements I’ve made to our compliance processes recognised. It’s been a busy six months with plenty to get stuck into, and I’m looking forward to continuing to build on the progress I’ve made so far. A big thank you to the team for the support along the way.”

Another recent addition to the team here at Approach Personnel is Senior Recruitment Consultant John Ryan, who brings with him a wealth of experience in recruiting skilled engineering professionals for manufacturing businesses, a skillset many of our clients will benefit from.

John specialises in roles across Design, Project Management, Project Engineering, Quality, Health & Safety, Environmental, and Senior Operations, supporting businesses in finding the specialist talent they need to strengthen their teams. We caught up with him to learn a little more about what brought him to Approach...

‘I’ve been in the Recruitment game since 1990 and recently completed 8.5 years working for Reed.

I specialise in manufacturing engineering, providing permanent and contract engineers, such as Design Engineers, Contract & Project Managers, Materials Specialists, Mechanical and Electrical fitters, HS&E Managers, and generally anything linked to manufacturing.

I chose to join Approach because I was taken with the whole company ethos, the experience of the staff, and the honest and realistic conversations I had.
The business has shown excellent growth and development, and the reviews and comments from customers and candidates were excellent.

I want to expand Approach’s manufacturing engineering capabilities across the Midlands and build the team to be the go-to recruiter for engineering personnel.

Outside work I’m a qualified and active Rugby Union referee covering adults (male & female) and development / Colts teams across the East Midlands.
I also travel further afield and have reffed in London, Luton, Gloucester, Liverpool, and many more. Highlights include reffing at Welford Road (Leicester Tigers), reffing the Scotland development team, and reffing Tigers’ Academy players. I’m also a closet musician, play keyboards and synths, and have had my music played on various radio stations over the years.’

This year’s Candidate Care award was given to the very deserving Benjamin Middleton, we who are sure all of his candidates will agree, goes above and beyond to ensure the smoothest, personable service he possibly can. We caught up with Ben for a few words about his recent recognition:

‘It’s a good feeling to be awarded for the service and care I put into our candidates each day. For me, candidate care is simply about treating people properly.

Recruitment can be a stressful process sometimes, so being honest with them and making sure they feel looked after really matters and I find doing that builds my relationship with candidates so when they are looking for work they’ll either come back to me or refer us to other candidates they know.’

Welcome to the team Holly Brewin! Holly joined us recently and is working within our blue collar trades and labour division, focusing on the Plant, Quarry, Aggregates and Recycling sectors. We caught up with her to learn a little more about what brought her to Approach...

‘Prior to joining Approach Personnel I have worked in sales for 5 years and recruitment for 2. I also do social media along side my recruitment career.

I was interested in joining Approach because of their long years of service in construction and great reputation within the industry. Not forgetting the great social side the business offers!

My aim in my new role is to be super billing for my desk and succeed along my colleagues.

Outside work I enjoy going to the gym, going to the pub with my dog honey and watching football!’

Welcome to the team Angus Wright! Angus recently joined our Trades & Labour division and is already hard at work supporting his team through one of the busiest periods of the year at Approach Personnel. We caught up with Angus to learn a little more about what brought him to us...

‘Before joining Approach Personnel, I was working at an asphalt plant, so moving into recruitment is an exciting new chapter.

Approach seemed like a great place to work, with a really positive team environment and plenty of opportunities to develop and progress.

I’m looking forward to really thriving in my role, developing my skills and becoming a valuable asset to the team and the wider business.

Outside the office I’m a big music lover and DJ outside of work. It’s something I really enjoy and a great way for me to switch off and have some fun in my spare time!’
