Business Development Executive – Telephone Sales
Northampton | £30,000 Basic + Uncapped Commission | No Cold Calling
ESSENTIAL: Previous telephone-based sales experience.
Do you have direct telephone sales experience, excellent communication skills and a confident, engaging personality?
Our client is an established Northampton-based specialist supplier of identification products, card-printing solutions and access-control technology, serving business and public-sector customers.
They are looking for a Business Development Executive who can convert inbound enquiries into orders, build lasting customer relationships and develop existing accounts. This is an opportunity to join a customer-focused business where relationship-building and service matter as much as closing the sale.
Essential experience and skills
- Previous telephone-based sales experience.
- B2B sales or commercial experience, with personal responsibility for converting enquiries into orders.
- Experience managing and developing a portfolio of repeat customers.
- Experience preparing quotations, following up opportunities and progressing sales through to order.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience using a CRM, quoting system or similar business software.
- Strong organisation, commercial judgement and personal accountability.
What will you be doing?
- Convert inbound enquiries from initial conversation through quotation, negotiation and order.
- Develop a portfolio of retained customers, generate repeat business and identify opportunities for growth.
- Prepare accurate quotes and commercial proposals.
- Follow up opportunities and quotations through to completion.
- Build customer relationships based on trust, credibility and understanding.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and a reliable sales pipeline.
- Share customer, market and competitor insights with the Sales Manager.
- Work with Operations, Technical Support, Finance and Customer Experience to deliver the right solutions.
What's on offer?
- £30,000 basic salary.

Desirable: Experience in identity products, card printing, access control or another technical product environment.
Location: You must live within a reasonable commuting distance of Northampton.
