If you're looking for work at the moment, it's worth knowing that manufacturing employers across the North East are hiring actively, and most of them need roles filled quickly and with the right person.
Skills matter, but so does reliability, a good attitude and a relevant background, and most people underestimate how much of that they already have.
That's a better position to be in than it can sometimes feel. A job search can seem one-sided, but employers are looking just as hard as candidates are, and the businesses we work with put real effort into finding the right person rather than simply the first available one.
A few things that make a genuine difference for you:
1. Be clear about what you're looking for, including shift pattern, pay rate, location, type of work. Being specific helps an employer understand what matters to you, and it saves you time on roles you'd turn down anyway.
2. Register with an agency that has plenty of job opportunities in the area of work you’re interested in. They should be able to present a number of suitable options for you.
3. Don't undersell your experience. If you've been reliable on a production line for a period of time, that matters to employers more than most people realise.
