Last week's Junior Academy Highlights!
Day 1: Students kicked things off with a fun team-building activity to get to know each other and strengthen their teamwork skills. They also followed Brian’s journey through the health and social care system, learning about the wide range of roles and how these services work together to provide support.
Midweek: A big thank you to Eloise Pilcher from Kooth, who spoke about mental health support for 10–25-year-olds. The older students also got hands-on in the West Suffolk College simulation ward — thank you, Kieran, for an amazing session!
Final Day: We welcomed back Lee Sweetlove from the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST) and Marc Dawson (SARs Paramedic), Callum Paddy (SARs Paramedic), and Derek Wilding (Non-Clinical Volunteer for SARs) from Suffolk’s Emergency Medical Charity (SARS). Students made a simulated 999 call, explored an ambulance, and practiced first aid. A huge thank you to all four incredible speakers who volunteer their time with SARS!
