‘Career catfishing’ and ‘ghosting’ trends have started to cause some ripples in the market.

Although previously associated with young people, these trends are seeping into the older workforce too.

A recent survey found over one third of Generation Z employees had accepted a job but failed to arrive. That compares to a quarter of millennials and one in 10 Generation X employees.

About the same proportions have left their jobs without officially resigning.

For employers these changes have started to feel chaotic.

This means they’re open to opportunities but aren’t actively job hunting.

For employers proactive involves building a pipeline of quality candidates ready to fill vacancies when they arise.

In a LinkedIn survey, 84% of recruiters said they now engage with passive candidates for all employee levels, not just for senior appointments.
