4️⃣ The actual role: Do the responsibilities match what you were told?
5️⃣ What comes next: Is there progression, another project or somewhere for the role to go?

Two engineering roles can require almost identical experience and still get very different responses from candidates.

Salary matters, of course. But so do the shift pattern, equipment, projects, team, progression, overtime expectations and what the day-to-day job actually looks like.

If good engineers are seeing your vacancy but not applying, it may be worth looking at how the opportunity is being presented, not simply assuming the candidates aren’t there.
