Freelance Timber Frame Designer
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Timber Frame Designer to provide us with freelance work for our timber frame buildings.
The primarily role will be providing floor, wall, and roof production plans with cutting lists for out 2 ranges of timber frame buildings. Applicants to have strong knowledge of AutoCAD for technical drafting.

We've started going through the early responses to the 2025 CAD Employment Survey, and salaries for Intermediate CAD Designers are showing some interesting changes already.

The average has gone up from £34,256 last year to £36,824 this year. That’s just over a 7% increase.

Some regions are seeing bigger jumps than others. The Midlands is up 13% and the North East is up 16%. The North West, though, has dipped slightly, with salaries dropping from £33,110 to £32,129.

These are just early numbers and will likely shift a little as more responses come in. Once the survey closes, I’ll be publishing a full breakdown by region, job level and software used.

Freelance CAD Designer

Nicholas Kirkwood Ltd is a footwear design company producing sustainable sneakers. Due to increased workloads, we are looking to hire—with an immediate start—someone who is proficient in Grasshopper, Rhino, or equivalent 3D modelling software.

The role will involve 3D modelling of footwear prototypes for 3D printing. Daily tasks will include producing 3D models, modifying models, and preparing them for 3D printing. Experience in parametric design to modify models and familiarity with Vizcom AI are preferable. Additional experience in Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator would be an added benefit.

The role is offered on a contract basis for 3–6 months initially. We will require the person to work on-site in London, 4–5 days a week. A brief will be provided, but the person should be able to work under their own initiative.

RKB Electrical Ltd is a commercial electrical contractor with our own in-house electrical design team. Due to increased workloads and short term sickness we are looking to hire with an immediate start, someone who is proficient with 2D CAD layout work and has experience of working with AutoCAD.
The layouts will include Lighting, Power distribution, Data, Fire detection and alarm system.
Experience of using Dialux would be an added benefit.
The role is temporary to cover the sickness period which could be a few days or a week. We will require the person to work in our office in Skipton, North Yorkshire. A brief will be provided but the person should be able to work under their own initiative.

Temporary CAD Technician (General Arrangement, Planning and Lease Drawings) – Energy Storage/Renewable Projects
AMP Clean Energy is a company based in Central London. They develop, build, own and operate distributed energy systems across the UK

They are looking to recruit an experienced CAD Technician to assist in producing General Arrangement, Planning and Lease drawings for a highly innovative Energy Storage project called ‘Battery Box’ in 2D DWG format.

Initially a minimum of 3 weeks, possibly more.

Position is Office is based in Central London – Zone 1. Would prefer candidate that is able to bring own IT to office, but not essential.

Any experience on similar renewable, energy storage, telecoms of electric vehicle charging preferable, but not essential.

Temporary CAD Technician (Basic Building plans for Future Fire Drawings)
KCS Projects Ltd is a company based in Olney, Buckinghamshire. They specialise in Fire & Security projects mainly from the Midlands through to the South coast.
They are looking to recruit an experienced temporary CAD Technician to assist in high level surveys of a number of properties in the West Midlands, and then to produce high level building layouts in DWG format. The drawings are for fire plans so do not need to be full construction drawings, however we do require floor plans of all properties surveyed.

The survey work will be as part of a team needs to be at site (Swindon) exact times on site TBC but estimated to be a minimum of 4 weeks possibly more. Following this there is likely to be a minimum of 4 weeks CAD work, mainly drawing up the floor plans, and then adding fire symbols to the CAD file when the design is completed by the principle designer. CAD work can be completed from the KCS office, or fee agreed per drawing for candidate to work from home. Own CAD system if working from home is essential.

Experience in surveying buildings and drawing floor plans essential. Any experience in producing fire or security drawings a bonus.

Potential for similar future short term contract works for the right candidate.

Please note that this position is only available to UK residents, who already have the right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of the sites we are surveying, we also require the candidate to be able to obtain an enhanced DBS clearance, which we will sponsor the candidate in applying for.

Temporary Revit Technician (Air Conditioning Manufacturing)
Miles-Ash is a HVAC Design and Manufacturing company based in Newtownabbey, Northern Ireland. They specialise in delivering Ventilation Systems across the UK & Isle of Man as well as Sheet Metal Fabrication.

They are looking to recruit a temporary Revit Technician to produce Revit documentation and co-ordinating with internal workshop, site teams and external consultants. You will also be creating 3D models in Revit that are designed to meet a client's budget.

Other tasks will include:
