Manchester Village Pride weekend starts today, we're celebrating the diversity, strength and contribution of LGBTQ+ communities across Manchester and beyond.

We're proud allies and proud supporters of inclusion in all its forms. We also continue to champion the important work carried out by Sparkle, helping create positive spaces for trans and gender-diverse people and their allies.

Here's to celebrating our history, supporting our communities and continuing to build a future where everyone can be themselves.

Happy Pride, Manchester and everyone who visits our amazing city this weekend!

Pride is a celebration but more importantly a protest, but it's also a chance to recognise the history, people and movements that have helped create safer and more inclusive communities.

Manchester has played a huge role in that story, and our recent heritage walk highlighted just how important Canal Street and the Gay Village have been for generations.

We're looking forward to seeing the community come together once again this weekend and celebrating alongside colleagues, partners, family & friends and the wider LGBTQ+ community.

Manchester's LGBTQ+ story is woven into the fabric of our city.

Over the last week we've reflected on the history of Canal Street and the people who fought for greater visibility, acceptance and equality. Their legacy continues to inspire communities today.

As Manchester prepares for Pride, we're pleased to see Manchester Village Pride return as a community-led celebration, putting the community at the centre of the event once again.

We stand as allies to LGBTQ+ people every day of the year, not just during Pride, and remain proud supporters of Sparkle and the work it does for trans and gender-diverse communities.

Today we stepped away from our desks and onto Canal Street to learn more about the history of Manchester's LGBTQ+ community and the people whose courage, resilience and activism helped shape the city we know today.

From the early days of the Gay Village through to the ongoing fight for equality and inclusion, it was a powerful reminder that progress happens because people speak up, stand together and support one another.

As allies, we are proud to support and celebrate LGBTQ+ colleagues, customers, family/friends and communities. We're also proud to continue supporting Sparkle - The National Transgender Charity, whose work helps create visibility, understanding and support for trans and gender-diverse people.

With Manchester Village Pride approaching, we're looking forward to celebrating a city that has always been at the heart of LGBTQ+ history and culture. 🌈
