We're delighted to share that Castlefield Recruitment has been awarded a place on the Government Commercial Agency's Executive & Non-Executive Search 3 Framework (RM6394).

This appointment provides public sector and not-for-profit organisations with a fully compliant route to access our executive search services for senior leadership, executive and non-executive appointments, without the need for a separate procurement exercise.

For us, this recognition reflects the strength of the relationships we've built with organisations across the public and third sectors, helping them attract leaders who can make a lasting impact on services, communities and outcomes.

Leadership recruitment is rarely about filling a single vacancy. Whether it’s a Trust building out its executive team also needs board-level appointments. A council restructuring its leadership also needs the specialist roles underneath it. Through RM6394, we're now able to support those requirements through a single framework agreement.

If you'd like to discuss how to access our services through RM6394, get in touch with Jack Barnes on 07584 558 826 or Chris Oldfield on 07766 131 471.

Since the implementation of Local Government Reorganisation (LGR), uncertainty surrounding governance, budgets, and service delivery within local authorities has reached an all-time high.

To maintain stability during this period of change, local authorities are increasingly investing in interim hires for C-suite and executive-level vacancies, securing valuable expertise and insight without the long-term commitment.

Our latest blog explores how the strategic use of interim recruitment within local authorities can minimise risk and help organisations navigate the pressures of ongoing change and restructuring.

Last week, we put out a poll asking what type of role appealed most to you right now, and the results were very telling.

Over 47% of respondents voted that they were in the market for permanent roles, while just over 3% said they were interested in temporary roles.

The votes were highly indicative of candidates' need for structure and stability in the current job market, with many preferring long-term opportunities over temporary work lasting only a few months. Despite these results, the UK job market is experiencing the highest increase in temporary work in more than three years, suggesting that employers are looking for short-term solutions that can make a lasting impact on their organisations.

20.5% of voters said they were interested in interim work, with the majority of respondents occupying mid-level to senior positions. These results suggest that more experienced professionals are preparing for growth in the interim market, recognising that their skills and experience are in high demand. This could potentially lead to more opportunities than those currently available in permanent employment.

28.4% of respondents said it depends on the opportunity. Keeping their options open to temporary, interim, and permanent roles allows them to explore a wider range of positions that suit their skills and career goals, rather than disregarding opportunities based solely on their permanent or temporary status.

With permanent recruitment declining for 45 consecutive months and temporary work on the rise, keeping your options open to a range of opportunities in the current UK job market may be the best way to secure roles that add value to your career development.

What do you think about these results?
