Data centres are powering the UK’s digital economy and playing an increasingly important role in the country’s ambitions for AI. But behind the technology, servers and infrastructure are 𝘁𝗵𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗮𝗻𝗱𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀, 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗮𝘀 needed to design, build and operate these complex facilities.

National Data Centre Day is a great opportunity to celebrate the 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 — and, importantly, to start conversations with the next generation about the careers available within it.

From 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗵𝘆𝘀𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗠𝗘𝗣, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, data centre development brings together a huge range of STEM disciplines.

These are careers that can be 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗳𝘂𝗹, 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗱, with opportunities to work on some of the most technically complex and ambitious projects being delivered today.

For us at 𝗘𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗻, it feels like a well-timed opportunity for industry experts to engage in the conversation, showcase the breadth of careers available and encourage young people to think more broadly about where a career in engineering, construction and the built environment could take them.

The future of digital infrastructure needs the next generation of talent. 𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗸𝗻𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗶𝘁.
