The "Perfect CV" on your desk is a trap. Here is how to read it. 🪤🤖

If you rely on online recruitment platforms to filter your candidates, the CVs that finally reach your desk probably look like masterpieces. They have the right degrees, the exact years of experience, and every buzzword you asked for.

But beware: you are likely falling into The Perfect CV Trap, orchestrated by the abominable AI gatekeeper (ATS).

These systems don't read nuance, character, or resilience. They read keywords. This means the "golden candidates" you are interviewing might not be the best people for the job; they are simply the people who best know how to game the system with CV SEO.

When you hire a piece of paper curated by a robot, you often end up firing a toxic attitude a few months later.

Three agencies rejected him. We placed him in 48 hours. ⏱️

Last week, a CV landed on my desk. At first glance, it had a "fatal flaw" by traditional corporate standards: a two-year gap in employment.

The automated algorithms of the big agencies filtered him out instantly. "Unexplained gap = High Risk." 🤖🚫

I decided to call him. Not to interrogate him, but to have a coffee.

"What happened during those two years?" I asked.

He didn't freeze. He smiled. "I tried to launch a tech startup. We failed. I lost money. But I learned more about resilience, budgeting, and sales in those 24 months than in my entire corporate career."

He wasn't "unemployed." He was getting a masterclass in grit.

I presented him to my client not as a "candidate with a gap," but as a "candidate with entrepreneurial spirit." He got the job.
