The Role

As the Handy Person, you will be responsible for the general upkeep and day-to-day maintenance of our children’s home. You’ll ensure the property is always safe, clean, and functioning to a high standard, and will support the team in creating a homely environment for the young residents.

This is a flexible role with negotiable hours, offered at a rate of £15 per hour.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out general repairs and daily maintenance tasks around the home

Maintain all areas of the property to ensure safety, cleanliness, and comfort

Liaise with external contractors for larger or specialised repair jobs

Respond quickly and efficiently to maintenance requests from staff

Keep maintenance tools, equipment, and areas clean and organised

Ensure health and safety standards are met at all times

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a reliable and capable individual who:

Has good communication skills and can work well with staff, children, and external providers

Possesses hands-on experience in maintenance, facilities, or practical trades

Can diagnose and fix minor faults (e.g., plumbing, electrical, fixtures)

Is self-motivated, organised, and able to work independently

Has additional trade skills (e.g., carpentry, plumbing, electrics) – desirable

Takes pride in high-quality work and creating safe, well-maintained spaces

What We’re Looking For

Has good communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills
