Orbis Group recently partnered with Nic Giuli of Elevata Ventures for the latest edition of the AI Hub CTO Series, bringing together CTOs, Heads of Engineering and AI founders across financial markets and the wider technology space 🤖
We welcomed nearly 40 CTOs and Heads of Engineering, alongside a number of tech entrepreneurs working at the forefront of what is happening in AI.
The evening focused on some of the biggest conversations currently shaping AI and software engineering, from productivity and AI-assisted development through to governance, operational risk and the future structure of technology teams.
đź’¬ The event was held under Chatham House rules, but some of the key themes discussed throughout the evening included:
• Is AI making Software Engineers any more productive?
• How to measure software engineering productivity (and vanity metrics)?
• How much automation can now be done by End User “Citizen Developers” using AI
• Assessing the risks of End User AI Builds (“Vibe Coding”) according to “blast radius”
• How a professional Software Engineer can use AI Vibe Coding to increase productivity safely
• Do we still need CTOs, &/or IT mid level managers?
• How can an AI “Meta Harness” help
• Moving security to zero trust and infection tolerance to combat AI enabled adversaries
• What are the strategic bets in AI for 2026?
Yishai Beeri of LinearB spoke on Productivity Metrics, Ben Wootton of Coex shared his experience around AI builds, and Rich Tong of TNE gave an update on recent developments and future projections within the space. A huge thank you as well to everyone who contributed so openly throughout the evening.
As always, one of the best parts of these events is bringing together people who are genuinely close to the market and creating space for honest conversations around the challenges, opportunities and realities of AI adoption right now.
Thank you to our hosts at Man Group, particularly Gary Collier, James Blackburn and Paulina Liutke, alongside everyone involved in making the evening happen.
Looking forward to the next AI Hub CTO event with Julian Levy of Elevata Ventures and our own Henry Hickley already đź‘€
