Is AI a bubble, or are we simply overestimating how quickly it will transform businesses? πŸ€–

AI investment is booming. Organisations are investing billions into infrastructure, hiring AI talent and embedding AI into products, operations and everyday workflows.

But despite the momentum, many businesses are still struggling to move beyond experimentation and demonstrate meaningful return on investment.

The reality is that hype and long-term value can exist at the same time. Every major technology shift has experienced a period where expectations ran ahead of reality before practical use cases emerged.

In our latest blog, we explore whether AI is following a similar path, what the data tells us and why the real question isn't whether AI is a bubble, but whether businesses know where it can genuinely create value.

Is AI creating demand for a new generation of Solution Architects? πŸ€–

For the past few years, AI conversations have focused on models, tooling and productivity, but as AI moves from experimentation into enterprise-wide adoption, another challenge is emerging: implementation.

Integrating AI into products, workflows and complex technology ecosystems requires far more than technical capability alone. It demands architecture, governance and a deep understanding of how systems work together at scale.

In our latest blog, we explore why solution architects are becoming increasingly critical to successful AI adoption, how the role is evolving and what it means for technology hiring.

What a way to step up for an incredible cause. 🚴

A huge congratulations to our Co-Founder & CEO, Craig Davies, who has completed the Raptor Ride 2026 in support of Action Medical Research.

With just one week's notice, Craig took on an incredible challenge, cycling 416km through Germany's Black Forest and the Vosges Mountains of France, tackling over 6,000 metres of climbing, including the iconic Le Grand Ballon climb, alongside others from across the insurance industry.

More importantly, every mile was ridden to raise money for Action Medical Research, a charity dedicated to funding life-changing medical research that helps save and improve the lives of babies and children.

We're incredibly proud of Craig for taking on such a demanding challenge and supporting a cause that makes a genuine difference. πŸ‘

There's still time to support the fundraiser. If you're able to donate, no matter the amount, it would be hugely appreciated and will help Action Medical Research continue its vital work.

πŸ€– Last week, Orbis Group partnered with Elevata Ventures, with Ninety One kindly hosting the latest edition of our AI Hub CTO Series - this time exploring one of the biggest conversations in technology today: Cyber Security and AI – How to Adapt.

The evening brought together senior leaders from across financial services, cybersecurity and AI, with over $20 trillion of assets under management represented in the room across hedge funds, private markets and asset managers.

We were delighted to be joined by Jason Clinton (Deputy CISO at Anthropic), Marius Hobbhahn (Founder of Apollo Research) and James Derbyshire (Co-Founder of Harmonic Security), alongside a CISO and CTO panel moderated by Lucia Pino-Garcia (CTO at Ninety One Asset Management).

πŸ’¬ As always, the event was held under Chatham House rules, but some of the key themes discussed throughout the evening included:

πŸ”Ž What will be the impact when open-weight models achieve the functionality of Mythos?
πŸ”Ž How are Silicon Valley technology companies building their own security?
πŸ”Ž Where is agentic code review best used, and where is human oversight still essential?
πŸ”Ž NeoCloud vs Hyperscalers for GPU access
πŸ”Ž How should organisations position themselves for the period of "great uncertainty" ahead?
πŸ”Ž How do we monitor deception and identify when an AI model is lying?
πŸ”Ž How do we scale beyond human-in-the-loop controls?
πŸ”Ž What governance frameworks are needed for autonomous AI agents?

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed so openly to the discussion, as well as to our speakers and panellists for sharing their expertise.

Special thanks to Julian Levy at Elevata Ventures, Henry Hickley at Orbis Group and Lucia Pino-Garcia at Ninety One Asset Management for organising and hosting another fantastic event. We're already looking forward to the next one.

πŸ“© If you're a CISO, Head of Information Security, CTO or senior technologist working within financial markets and would like to be part of the community, get in touch with [email protected] or [email protected] - we'd love to hear from you.

Could AI solve today's productivity challenges while creating tomorrow's talent shortage? πŸ€–

AI is helping teams move faster than ever before, automating repetitive tasks, increasing engineering output and changing the way businesses deliver work.

But there's another conversation starting to emerge...

If fewer junior professionals are gaining the hands-on experience that traditionally developed future senior talent, what does that mean for the workforce in five or ten years' time?

In our latest blog, we explore how AI is changing capability development, why businesses may need to rethink how they build future leaders and what this could mean for hiring across the technology market.
