Loneliness has affected all of us at one point and it isn't always easy to be open about. highlighted the importance of and showed many people how difficult it can be when you feel isolated. Data from the MHAW Loneliness Report showed us that at the beginning of the pandemic, loneliness levels were much the same as they had been in 2016-17. 5% of adults in Great Britain said they were often or always lonely. By February 2021, this had increased to 7.2% equating to 3.7 million adults. As this number grows disproportionately in some groups, it is important that we continue to talk more openly about loneliness, building on our shared experiences and continue to foster connections.

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we are raising awareness of the impact of loneliness on our mental wellbeing and the practical steps we can take to address it and foster connections where we can.
