πŸ’· Could salary transparency become the new normal?

The UK Government has announced plans that could require employers to include salary information in job adverts, or provide it to candidates before interview.

It's an interesting proposal, and one that'll no doubt spark plenty of discussion.

From our experience, being upfront about salary can make the recruitment process smoother for everyone. Candidates know whether a role is likely to be the right fit, and employers tend to receive applications from people whose expectations are already in the right ballpark.

Of course, there are exceptions. For some senior or confidential appointments, there's a good reason why salary isn't always advertised publicly.

And let's be honest, salary isn't the only thing people look at when they're considering a new role. Company culture, career progression, flexibility, leadership and benefits can all be just as important.

It'll be interesting to see what comes out of the consultation and whether salary transparency becomes the norm across the UK jobs market.

What do you think? Would you be more likely to apply for a role if the salary was advertised, or do you think employers should be free to decide whether to include it?

πŸŽ“ If you're a graduate starting to think about your career, there's one industry you might not have considered...

The gambling & gaming sector.

For many graduates, the obvious choices are finance, business or tech. But gambling & gaming is often overlooked, despite being home to some of the UK's most innovative employers.

These types of companies hire software engineers, data analysts, marketers, product managers, designers, compliance professionals, customer experience specialists... the list goes on.

It's an industry that's constantly evolving, with businesses investing heavily in technology, AI, safer gambling, and digital innovation.

For graduates, that often means:
πŸ‘‰ Working on real projects from day one.
πŸ‘‰ Learning quickly alongside experienced teams.
πŸ‘‰ Building skills that are valuable across the wider tech and digital landscape.
πŸ‘‰ Having opportunities to progress earlier than you might expect.

Exploring different industries could open doors you didn't know were there. Your first role might come from somewhere you least expected.

Some examples include Genting Casinos, who have recently recruited for their 2026 operational Graduate Scheme, with the programme beginning next month. Genting also regularly offers a Training School for trainee croupiers alongside a Management Designate Scheme, providing excellent opportunities for those looking to build a long-term career and progress into management.

RankGroup including Grosvenor Casinos also regularly advertise roles such operational management, finance, commercial, marketing, HR, digital gaming and data & analytics; with a focus on trainee positions that allow for progression. Great recruitment is about supporting people through what can often be one of the biggest decisions in their careers.

This testimonial was shared with our consultant, Christine, by Brycan Dayao following his recent placement as Head of Operations at Arrise. Feedback like this is a great reminder that our role goes far beyond matching skills to a job description.

It's about staying in touch, keeping everyone informed, and being there when it matters most.

We're really proud of the way Christine approaches every search, bringing honesty, care and a genuine commitment to the people she works with. It's a great example of how the relationships we build can make all the difference.

Thank you to Brycan for taking the time to share such thoughtful feedback. It really does mean a lot.
