In the UK, a new breed of female entrepreneurs is emerging. These women are driven by a desire for greater flexibility, a better work-life balance, and the opportunity to pursue their passions.

A recent study by Small Business Britain found that 86% of female entrepreneurs in the UK are happier since starting their businesses. The study also found that the most common reasons why women start their own businesses are to improve their work-life balance, have more flexibility, and pursue their passions.

One of the women interviewed for the study, Mireya Quiton Tuijtelaars, said she started her own business because she wanted to be able to spend more time with her children. She said, "I am so much happier, having been able to create a business that allows for a better work-life balance."

Another woman, Emma Robson, started her own business after being made redundant. She said, "It doesn't surprise me that so many female entrepreneurs feel happier. Since I started up, I have more control of my schedule, a five-minute commute, and I feel a huge sense of pride and satisfaction when we get positive feedback or see an order come through."

The study concludes that female entrepreneurship is on the rise in the UK and that women are finding it to be a rewarding and fulfilling experience.

This new generation of female entrepreneurs is not afraid to take risks and blaze their own trails. They are driven by a passion for their businesses and a desire to make a difference in the world.

They are the trailblazers of tomorrow, and they are rewriting the rules of entrepreneurship.

British humour is known around the world for its wit, self-deprecating humour, and sarcasm. A recent survey of 1,511 UK citizens aged 16+ found that 53% of Britons believe that people in their country are generally good at banter.

The survey also found that the most popular type of British humour is sarcasm and irony, followed by self-deprecating humour and friendly jokes.
The most "banterous" cities in the UK are Belfast, Birmingham, and Leeds. Residents of these cities are more likely to use humour in everyday life to build relationships, diffuse tense situations, and simply have fun.

However, it is important to remember that not all types of humour are appropriate in every situation. For example, jokes about personal life, political views, or appearance can be seen as offensive.

Overall, Britons believe that humour is an important part of life and helps people connect with each other.

In the dynamic landscape of modern life, parents often find themselves delicately balancing the demands of a successful career with the responsibilities of raising a child with special needs. This intricate balancing act requires unwavering determination, resilience, and adaptability.

Exploring this multifaceted journey, it's essential to understand the statistics that shed light on the experiences of these remarkable parents in the UK. In this article, we will delve into the statistics, strategies, and narratives that illuminate the art of harmonizing a thriving career while nurturing a child with special needs.

Statistics: Illuminating the Landscape

- Parental Employment: The UK Office for National Statistics reports that in 2020, around 72% of families with dependent children had both parents working. This underscores the prevalent reality of parents aiming to maintain both careers and family responsibilities.

- Children with Special Needs: According to the UK government's Family Resources Survey, approximately 13% of families in the UK have at least one child with a disability. This highlights the significant number of parents navigating the complex journey of raising children with unique requirements.

- Employment Challenges: A study by the charity Scope found that disabled people in the UK are twice as likely to be unemployed compared to non-disabled individuals. This also reflects the challenges parents of children with special needs might face in pursuing stable and fulfilling careers.

A new survey by Cezanne HR has found that nearly half of UK and Irish employees are actively looking for a new job. The survey, which was conducted in collaboration with Pollfish, also found that only 48% of employees in the UK and Ireland are satisfied in their roles and that under half of employees feel valued by their employers.

The most common reasons for wanting to leave a job are a dislike of core duties, a lack of work flexibility, and poor company culture. Two-fifths of employees are affected by poor workplace morale, and nearly 60% of employees don't know or align with their organization's values.

The report also found that organizations are doing some things right to support positive workplace experiences and employer-employee relationships. For example, a positive work-life balance is seen as key, as are strong relationships with colleagues and a positive work environment.

Employers and HR teams should take note of these findings and take steps to improve employee satisfaction. By doing so, they can prevent building a workforce full of dissatisfied employees and reap the benefits of a more engaged and productive workforce.

Thinking about embarking on a new professional journey? You're not alone! Recent research conducted by FutureLearn, a leading digital learning platform, has shed light on a growing trend: 57% of adults have made a daring leap and switched careers at some point in their lives.

Career changes have become increasingly prevalent in today's world, but let's face it, they can still be a bit nerve-wracking. Stepping into a new field or veering away from your established educational background can give anyone pause. However, the apprehension surrounding leaving a job is being reflected in some interesting workplace trends, such as the rise of 'quiet-quitting' and the more recent 'loud-quitting'.

But what's driving this surge in career changes? Could the rise of ' ' hold the key? FutureLearn's research reveals that a majority of adults (57%) now choose to switch professions during their lifetime, challenging the traditional notion of a fixed career choice. The ever-evolving landscape of artificial intelligence (AI) has made continuous skill development a necessity, further fueling the prevalence of career changes.

Transparency in resignations has also gained significant relevance, with social media platforms like TikTok witnessing the rise of the hashtag , which has garnered millions of views. The rise of generative AI tools like OpenAI's ChatGPT has left some feeling overwhelmed. Uncertainty and fear surround the "AI arms race." However, experts suggest a different approach.

Workers can choose how much they worry about AI. By learning about it and leveraging its potential, they can take control and turn anxiety into empowerment.

To alleviate anxiety, employees should embrace technology, prioritize education and training, and adapt to the evolving workplace. History shows that society has always found ways to thrive amid industry disruptions.
Regardless of personal feelings, AI is here to stay. Taking a positive outlook and focusing on personal growth are more beneficial than allowing anxiety to hinder progress.
In summary, workers should embrace AI, seek knowledge, and develop new skills to navigate the future of work successfully.

Migrate UK has discovered unusual job opportunities among the 143 additions to the Government's Skilled Worker job list. Employers can now fill these roles through sponsorship, ranging from knitters and wig makers to vent chick sexers and slaughtermen.

These figures reveal the hidden job shortages in the UK. Alongside well-known roles like nurses and care workers, there are lesser-known occupations that employers struggle to recruit for. If UK candidates are scarce, overseas talent can be considered.

The expanded job list also includes rare professions like microwave engineers, meteorologists, food technologists, and ceramicists. All 143 additional occupations benefit from favorable immigration arrangements, allowing employers to quickly fill critical vacancies.

Jonathan Beech, Managing Director of Migrate UK, highlights the lack of talent in the UK. He advises employers to check the extensive job list and explore sponsoring overseas workers to meet their needs.

Only 3.5% of UK employers had a license to sponsor workers despite talent shortages. Businesses facing persistent skills gaps should apply for a sponsor license to support recruitment.
For roles not on the job list or facing severe shortages, businesses can submit evidence for the next review by the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC). The deadline for submissions is May 26, 2023.
