What does every H-2B candidate need to know before they sign?

There are three essentials that protect you from the start:

1️⃣ You should never be charged a fee for recruitment or placement in an H-2B job, so if someone asks you to pay, treat it as a red flag and verify before proceeding

2️⃣ Your H-2B authorization is tied to the specific employer and job listed in your petition for that season

3️⃣ Additional employment is not allowed, the only job you can hold is the one you were hired to do.

The biggest mistake employers make is treating the H-2B process exactly like a normal hiring window.

That is just not the case.

You cannot start this process two months out.

You need to start it at least six months in advance.

A big part of the process is the lottery system, so after you receive your lottery group assignment, staying flexible is a key to making H-2B work for your business.

Plan ahead and stay flexible.

Due to high demand, applications have re-opened for a limited time only, giving eligible students another opportunity to apply for this incredible experience at Walt Disney World® Resort in Orlando, Florida!

📅 Applications will close on 30th September 2026.

The Disney Academic Exchange Program allows students from select partner universities to spend 6 or 12 months combining academic study with hands-on experience at Walt Disney World® Resort.

How many H-2B visas are actually available each year?

The cap is a fixed annual limit set by Congress, currently 66,000 visas per fiscal year, split evenly across the year's two work seasons.

33,000 are reserved for the first half, covering start dates from October 1st through March 31st.

The other 33,000 cover the second half, from April 1st through September 30th, during the busiest hospitality months.

Supplemental visas are sometimes released beyond the cap, but they are reserved for specific categories of workers.

This means the employer is counting on you, and you are counting on the employer.

There are three things every candidate should know before starting the process:

1️⃣ Your visa is tied to one employer for one season

2️⃣ Nobody should ever be charging you money, and if they are, that is a red flag

3️⃣ You cannot take any additional employment outside the job you came here for.
