1. The UDA trap NHS dentists are expected to hit targets that prioritise numbers over patient care. It’s exhausting and demoralising, but many feel too locked in to walk away.

2. Fear of complaints Dentistry has become increasingly high risk when it comes to GDC complaints and indemnity claims. A lot of dentists stay put simply because moving feels like unnecessary exposure.

3. Better the devil you know: New practice means new systems, new patients, new team. When you’re already stretched, the idea of starting fresh feels like too much, even if you’re unhappy where you are.
